I have noticed that if you drive a trike that is less than 1 metre wide and 2 meters long, you are exempt from the charge. The Peel three wheeler was a feature of Top Gear a while back, just out of curiosity does anybody produce something similar that can be bought new today?

Why not just get one of the low emission cars which are exempt?

The French produce some three wheel two stroke but its a dreadful little thing, someone has one near here, its flat out at 40, smokes like anything, and I would not like to be in an accident in one.

Considering how many bashes you are likely to have in dense London traffic I'd steer well clear of anything like that, and, as Bamford says, get a proper Band B car and register it with 'em and get free entry!

The Congestion Charge is the biggest con in motoring history.

If it was really a congestion charge, NO cars would be exempt, because ALL cars cause congestion! Mad

I have accepted that cities will charge to enter.
That's why 90% of my driving time is in the countryside.

Cars that produce <~100g CO2/km are exempt aren't they??

SEAT Ibiza Ecomotive, Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion, Toyota Prius, MINI Cooper D, Toyota Aygo/C1/107, Honda Civic IMA, Fiat 500, Smart ForTwo, Citroen C2, Ford Focus ECOmotive.

Ok well the Focus does 114g/km, maybe the limit is 120 then...

Yes, but I want something smaller and more individual.

I see... Well anything smaller than those apart from a Peel is a G-Wiz, can't think of anything else.

And I'd rather walk than have a G-Wiz.

Anybody crazy enough to want to drive in London deserves to pay the congestion charge.

Band B - up to and including 120gm. But I believe you have to "register" them somehow - you need to go on their site for details....

I'd rather have something I could walk away from if someone smashes into me, kit cars are not renound for that, nor is a G-whiz! Roll Eyes

If Livingstone & the government were serious about congestion & the environment, they would:-

A) Livingstone would ban all cars from central London - but he won't do that, because he wouldn't be able to make money.

B) The government would ban the sale of any cars that put out over 250g/km (for instance) from being sold in the UK - but again, they'd never do that because it would reduce revenue.

Why don't they all just admit the real agenda; seeing as we know what's going on anyway?

If you banned all cars from London can you imagine the picture just outside?
Parking would be £5 an hour!

Ken Livingston's cash cow has nothing to do with congestion.Another revenue collection, nothing more, nothing less. As long as the legislators are exempt from their own legislation (like Brown and his cabinet cronies)this country will suffer.

Now that Johnson is mayor, I bet he doesn't get rid of the emissions tax (as it should be really called) or get rid of the Western extension either.

He'll look at the money that it's raking in & the dark forces in suits behind him will tell it that it will stay as it is.
