It isn't hard to grasp.
I do grasp it actually; that is not what I was getting at.
What I wanted to know is, if it's no better than a V12 petrol with twin turbos, then what is the point IMO?
If it was better & Audi had stumbled across something way out of this world, then I would applaud it; but as far as I can see, they haven't moved the game on, otherwise Ferrari & Lamborghini for example, would use diesel engines.
I have no problem with diesel engines, although I would never have one myself, but I do question the wisdom of the R8 V12 TDI, when supercars are all about the performance & sound they make.
A diesel supercar cannot sound right IMO & although the performance is sensastional, it doesn't offer any advantage over an equivalent petrol engined supercar.
I hope this explains my rationale better.
