from next year my tiny low weight vw lupo gti will cost more to tax than the biggest bentley or the fastest ferrari or any other powerful car registered before march 2001. crazy stupid labour tax laws we all know.. now just to stick 2 fingers up at them what car would people tip to buy that would provide plenty of speed and power, but also be cheap to buy and tax. mpg doesnt matter as it doesnt have to be driven much, interested to see what bargains could be had over the next few years. cars for about £5k budget could find some nice options, maybe i should experience a v6 or v8 in some form. i wonder if the government will realise their mistake when thousands of motorists could be tempted to sell there economic modern low polluting cars in exchange for older powerful high emission cars as its actually cheaper..(if you do low miles).

to start off, in the next year or 2 will be able to get for £5k a 5.0 V8 TVR Griffith or Chimaera, 0-60mph 4.1s top speed 167 mph and 320 bhp... cheaper to tax for environmental budget reasons than my VW city car. tempting...

are those tvr really that poor build quality? as owning the car is about saving though any repair can be cheap diy job or an MOT minimum, anything else that goes wrong remove it from the car and bin it. engine or light electrics would put me off though if they are an issue. was the corvette sold as a uk car or an unoffical import? LHD?

Porsche 968, 928 or 944 Turbo. Personal choice would be the 968. You'll find a specialist insurance policy will cover any of them at an extremely sensible price, I'm 37 and had a quote on a standard 944 of under £140 (fully comp) with only £100 excess.
We have lost our way, but we're way ahead of schedule.
