There was a 500 based on the old Enfield but it was even slower than my old CG but did did over 200mpg! The Army were also making one - 500cc again, top speed of about 80 but much quicker than the Enfield - don't know what happenned to that - now standard fuel for the armed forces, so everything they use in the field has to be diesel - at least the tanks won't burn their crews like the old WW2 petrol-powered ones did!
i wonder if the new car technology will come down to the motorbikes, this diesel could eba sign of it with a turbo charger. i'm not into bikes, but i am a pretolhead, so i wonder if there will be highly advanced lightweight and economic 250cc turbo petrol engines on future bikes? or is that already happening.
....... There's got to be a hundred reasons why i should listen to diesel owners, but right now, i can't think of any.
also what is the law regarding turbos for bikes? as i know learners on their 50cc or 125cc bikes would surely love to have a high powered turbo version and still ride it on the low capacity license?

No doubt they'd change the rules to ensure they didn't go mad, Beach - a moped (50cc) is limited to 30mph and a learner 125 to 11kw in power.
Anything that took the speed/power above them would invalidate it for use on a restriced licence, luckily like others on here my bike licence is not restricted... though unlike Palmy and Bamford I've not ridden any really big bikes!

There have been a few petrol turbo motorbikes in the past, such as the Honda CX500/650, Kawasaki Z1/ZX750, Yamaha XJ650 and I cant remember the Suzuki one, but they were all apparently pretty flawed. I'd love one personally, I reckon they'd be pretty good fun!
A turbo 250 isnt terribly practical because of the very high compression that 250s run (especially the japanese 4 cyl 250's)

Thats very impressive, and an ideal commuter bike, but I wont be rushing out to sell the 1100, especially as the scorpion exhaust is on it now. The diesel could never be a sports bike because of its sound, IMO. (Which is slightly in contrast to my views of diesels in sports cars!)
