With the arrival of the M3 saloon imminent which would you you rather own, the coupe or saloon model. Personally I would opt for the saloon. The extra doors would be perfect for my needs, it looks subtly sporty and is virtually identical in performance to the M3 coupe.

Saloon for me, when I bought my last car I ruled out several vehicles because of being only 2 doors (putting child seats in the back of a 2 door I would imagine is a bit of a pain).

To be honest I would probably also rather take the RS4 if it were my money. I saw one yesterday, in red, very nice. Then I saw a regular S4, also very nice, I would be happy with either.
M3 saloon for me but only 'cos i need easier access for a child seat. If it was my money then maybe the RS4 avant or if /when available an M3 touring. Nothing does it for me like an estate with supercar performance.

I'd like an Evo estate imported from Japan

Remember Audi's "RS" moniker started with the RS2, which was estate-only and achieved a real mystique. The RS4s are their spiritual succesor so if you're after one that nods to its lineage, you go for the wagon. Bonkers-performance estates are Audi's piece de resistance as well, giving the Avant a little extra cachet over the 3-box.
Better looking too IMO.
