I'm looking to invest in montenegro but would like a mortgage to limit risk and increase exposure (through a larget property).
I remember the original Places in the Sun highlighted that (90%!) mortgages were possible in Montenegro but after enquiries with agents since appears that it isn't possible. Anyone have any experience/ideas?
Also, a note on the Argentinian market. It is cheap but unlikely to be the hottest given it's a cash market as there's no banking system to speak of. As the economic growth is looking shakey, it looks like foreign investment driving the increases. Given Americans don't generally buy outside of America and Europeans don't buy because of the distance. Upside could be limited.
I'm sure there are no mortgages available yet but as many Montenegro banks are being bought out rumours are rife that mortgages will be available in a year or so.
At moment the only mortgages available are to residents, but they have recently joined the IMF and World Bank which could change things in the future but could be a while!
Article in todays Daily Mail suggesting Montenegro as the new prime location and expecting their property to triple of quadruple by 2014. They also confirmed Hypo Bank are doing mortgages now for UK residents wishing to purchase in Montenegro
