Am planning a trip to Northern Morrocco but am not interested in new developments. Want to make serious cash refurbishing older property. Am flying in to Malaga at the end of Nov:
Questions:
1. Can anyone tell me the best way to get to Tangier from Malaga? 2. Can anyone recommend some estate agents specialising in reslae property?
You can fly from Malaga to Tangiers (2/day I think), or get a taxi to Algeciras or Tarifa and then a fast ferry, or service bus ditto - cheapest but slowest!
One agent I know in Asilah but also covering Tangier is an english/moroccan outfit - log in to: darmedina.com. There must be plenty more in Tangier. If you ask, they might even meet you off the ferry.
Asilah is a great little place. More expensive than Tangier, but with all the new developments around, I think there is still plenty to make on refurbishing.
I had been in contact with darmedina a few months back - I can't say that I would recommend them. They were too busy to answer my questions - they were pretty busy at the time.
As c4pete says, cheapest way is to get bus to Algeciras or Tarifa from Malaga. From there you can get ferry. Make sure get fast ferry - it takes about an hour, slow one from Algeciras took about 4 hours if I remember correctly. Think the faster ferries are more mode modern and nicer inside. Took the slow one going over and was sat in corner of very dark room watching bugs climb up the wall. Fast ferry coming back was of standard you would expect. Shame the sea was so choppy!
Hiring a car is a good way to get about when you are over, but its dear - twice the price it is in Malaga!
