I am a first time buyer and have £46k to spend on a property and trying to decide between buying and living in Budapest mortgage-free (or almost mortgage free) or buying in England with a huge mortgage with nowhere in particular I want to live.
I love Budapest and have a few friends here already. I know the country has some economic problems and the salary isn't as good as England but I figured that not having a huge mortgage/rental outgoing/interest each month would balance that.
I am single and have fund a few 1 bedroomed apartments in new build properties for about 45-54,000 Euros. I am sure that there will be some similar in old build places too.
I wondered if anybody here is living in Budapest or has bought property here has encountered any hidden taxes here etc or problems when buying?
