I am an expat living in Florida & am interested in peoples' views on buying in Florida. I took the plunge over 4 years ago & have never looked back.
This link will take you to an article published this month in a local (but fairly influential) magazine regarding opinions on what could happen in the future to new construction homes in Florida. I thought it was very interesting but have been away from home for some time; what is the general opinion there?
My parents are moving to Florida, most likely Naples. I wasn't thrilled about the idea at first, but now I can't wait to spend winter holidays in warm weather! I've also read loads of articles, specifically on Naples, and that it's an up and coming hot stop for a younger crowd, too. My parents would be buying a newly built house - I hear that's what many people are doing?
Ahh Florida!! We have our own villa in a place called The Rotonda, we started holidaying there about 6 years agao, prior to Kissimmee and Orlando a few years earlier. We fell in love with it and are working towards living and working there full time. The only advice I would give is to get yourself a reliable Real Estate Broker and research the area you are looking at buying into, make sure you get plenty of insurance, we rent our villa out through a recognised Management Company throughout the year that we are not there, it helps with costs etc
