so what about romania? eventhough they were listed as nr. 1 in the "20 best places to buy", i don't see anybody talking about buying an apartment in bucharest for instance.
Don't worry i'm not an agent trying to sell you a helping hand but just curious why it's being ignored compared to other countries from the same region.
I'm new here so maybe i just missed all the romania talk ....but i don't think so.

Yes it does seem strange no-one is talking about Romania. It is guaranteed EU entry by 2008 and will start receiving large EU subsidies from then on. The EU enlargement commissioner has reported that Romania has made considerably better progress in tackling organised crime than Bulgaria.

Admittedley, I know nothing else about Romania other than that. Anybody with any ideas about property in Romania. A colleague of mine is very keen on buying on the continent and is looking for the best possible location.

I think that it is not easy to find a good deal, if it were so then more people might give consideration and just because someone says that somewhere is a good place to invest it does not take into account all the individual requirements of each investor.

I think at the moment for those really willing to put alot of effort in then there may'be some bargains around, but for most investors who are not extremely savvy they are likely to get ripped off.

Also currently there are so many other far nicer places to invest that offer real bargains that are much more accessible to inexperienced investors.

Recently visited the Black Sea port of Constanta. There are areas around the city where developments of large villas from the lego school of architecture are going up. However, most property appears to be in a very poor state of repair. Tower blocks from the communist era. I would presume that Romania is in desperate need of large investment. It is striking the difference between Romania and Bulgaria on the Black Sea. The latter being far ahead in terms of infrastructure and development.

Also briefly visited the Neptune holiday resort and was not impressed by what I saw. It is bleak and requires massive investment to shed its communist era underpinnings.
