Did anyone see this last night?

How much were they asking for the "pink" palace?

Watched it myself. £180,000 for the 'not-so-pink' palace!

Jeez!

Am I the only one who thinks that Slovakia looked like a derelict industrial town that you wouldn't even consider visiting, let alone wanting to live in?

Is this the programme that's on just before Richard & Judy? It is quality. I think they should buy the house with the collapsed ceilings.

This programme is truely bonkers. I wonder if Channel 4 is going to make a spin-off called "A Place In Grimsby" where a hapless couple look to set up a high class B+B in a run down northern town?

There is a full page article in this weeks Daily Mail Weekend tv guide about the programme. It cost them £75,000 to buy the chateau but ended up costing them half a million pounds when it was finished and they are very happy there.

I'm not surprised it cost that much, given it was designed by alcoholic architects.

ugh - she's horrible - domineering, selfish...
did you see her yelling at that fella who wouldn't let them in the gate:
'i am doing this, i am doing that, i am buying this property' - so rude, it's not even her country and she's screaming at some bloke she doesn't even know.
i'm surprised that husband hasn't gone demented and ran off into the mountains by now... Big Grin

yeah I agree she was rude, but I think that came out of frustration (obviously) I reckon shes ok, yeah shes forceful but at least shes not narrowminded. Theyre both being pretty openminded in exploring somewhere really off the map!

Unfortunately I missed it last night. I still can't work out if this programme is for real though, or if this couple are another "Nigel".

Please can you tell me what is "another Nigel"
I do agree that she is very forceful but her husband is not a fool - he lets her get on with it - then reigns her in - and does not let her get away with anything he doesn't want.
He appears to be being led - i.e. when she got him out of the mud spa but he got his own back when he drenched her with the water and the whip. They suit each other and make good tv.
Last weeks couple - who were in Spain - were a very mis-matched couple - I would not have lived with him for more than 1 day.

Hi Slapmatt - I would just like to point out that Slovakia is a COUNTRY and not a town. Get an education my son. I am from England and have lived in this beautiful Country for the last 6 years and have absolutely no desire to live back in the UK... why do you think this is? Maybe I have a far better life than I ever did when I lived in England. Bratislava (my home)has a great atmosphere and the people are truly friendly. As for Dave and Ann, whom I met during the filming are very brave to have done they did. We wish all wish them luck.

Interesting! Why did you choose Slovakia? Did you already speak the language fluently? Did you have family already there? It seems a strange choice otherwise to start a new life.

It also produced a couple of spin offs where Nigel sold the house and bought a BB and another where he set up an indian restaurant in the same area. I assume that it was all stage managed by Nigel to generate the TV programme rather than him having any actual desire to live there. No doubt he did very well financially out of firstly, Channel 4 and then a series of repeats on SKY.

I love this programme. I think I love it more than Richard & Judy now. Eek I thought Anne's choice of knickers for their manager was splendid, he looked so chuffed! Razz

David is such an idiot...Ann is a total ditz brain.....All she can think of is spending, spending, spending...without conferring with David...no wonder David is at his wits end...

She reminds me of an old friend of mine that just marries for money!...(and is on her fifth husband)...

She is so clueless it gives new definition to the word...

But what about the clip from next week when she says to the young girl i used to be very glamorous !!
Coming back to last week when she was flirting away with the posh nobs and hubby was with the hen night, she soon changed her attitude when she found out where he was.

Hi, quite a few years ago, about 12, I worked in an accountants office in Manchester and one of my colleagues was named David. He originated from Middlesbrough and I am SURE that David in Place in Slovakia is the same person. Does anyone know his surname? regards, Rita
