To buy in Spain is not only high risk because of the house price bubble there (which is more extreme than the UK one) but also because of the 'Land Grab Law' (officially known as LRAU) which allows property developers to 'grab' land off property owners and to build on it. One family in Andalucia earlier this year had land taken from them by property developers with the consent of the local town hall. The property developers then billed the family for £500,000 for the public toilets, road, street lights, etc that they built on what had been the garden of the family's house. They had to pay up as this was all above board and legal due to LRAU. They not only lost their land but were financially ruined. Can i walk in 8.30 am pay the 8 euros fill out the form, supply my nie, 3 pasport size photos signed on back and then expect to get my residence card in days or weeks?
