Hi Thorr. Thanks for replying. We are considering purchasing a 2 bed apartment on The Greens development in Saidia (£85k), hopefully for rental and poss capital growth. Paying more than we budgeted for but hopefully will be able to rent it out? Also considering one at Les Palmiers De Casablanca (£45k) primarily for capital growth as aparently alot of future investment from Dubai?? We do not have a huge budget and what we will be spending is an awful lot of money to us. Its a risk but I supose anything worthwhile is? Should we look at anything else instead? Our max budget inc fees £140k. Any comments you could make would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Rory,

I'd never heard of The Greens until you posted your message to Thorr. I've also invested in LJDF. Looking at the description of the apartments, they look good, but I'd say very very small - ie for your £85k, your 2 bed apt is about 69m2, that's about half the size you'd get at LJDF. For £140K you'll be able to get a larger apt either at LJDF or Oasis, although check out the difference in floor space between the two. You're also likely to get a ground floor apt, with your own bit of garden. Lawyers will be about £1.5k, you'll need to check out all the other fees. as a side note, be carefull when looking at the marketing info regarding Moroccan tax breaks - you'll still need to pay tax in the UK

Im afraid I know nothing of the greens development.

I went for LeJardinDeFleur. If you wanted to you might want to consider a small mortgage for any shortfall on completion?

I like LJDF as its 'turnkey', that is everything is to be included so I wont have the hassle of trying to stock and furnish an overseas property.

The Casablanca property is bound to appreciate a lot. Having a place in 'Casablanca' isnt something many folks can lay claim to! The prices are also very low.

One thing I recommend if you are buying more than 1 property is not to buy both from the same developer just in case they went bust
