I'm considering another German purchase, this time in Mitte the centre of Berlin.
The price seems to good to be true at £60,000 freehold for a studio, given the amazing location right in the centre of the seat of Government where there are lots of Embassies, nightlife, the Rieichstag etc.

The appartments are known as Veteranenstrasse and are located right next to the Weinbergpark - if you like, the Hyde park of Berlin.

Anyone bought one of these?

Hi Thorr,

where is VonReise, he normally has all the answers!

Anyway, I have checked out the agent, and they are fine, have been in business for some 90 years...their name is: Noack Immobilienberatung, Rosa Luxumburg Str. 5, 101178 Berlin, very close to the centre.

If you type in the Noack.... into google you will get a German website, but it has English paragraphs and for more interest as you abviously have, write to the name that is shown for contact, so he speaks English I imagine. They do have some interesting properties, checked out a few. The centre in Berlin with all their fairs (UK just does not compare with Germany on this)is in my mind a good place as rates for appartments during 'fair time' go up like there is no tomorrow.

I used to visit many fairs in Berlin, then there are holidaymakers, make sure there is an S or/and U Bahn which is always handy and safe especially at night for visitors.

Let me know how you are getting on, a quick call or the right person should solve your problems if you want to invest in a place.
Regards, A.

Ps. Repossession of properties, and insolvancy seem to be high in order there; does not bow well for business in my mind, just make sure you get the right advice from the Consultants Noack so you pay the 'correct' price. But reading the page quickly, everything has to go through court by auction! You should be alright.

Anke, I had seen this post. Not sure if you are being complimentary or a little sarcastic.

Thorr needs no advice from me or anyone else on Berlin. His company is doing okay there. From time to time I might even ask him advice.

Outside Berlin, well I guess I know more about those areas than him but if anyone wants to know about repos Thorr is the man to talk to.
Chris Gorlitz who posts here from time to time regularly deals with these types of properties. Haven't heard from him for a while - I guess he's still in the area. Chris give me a call if you get the chance to read this.

Hi Vonreise,
no indeed not, I assume you are in that sort of business and you have a lot of knowledge about Germany. As you say, I was surprised Thorr asked the questions, or he was really stuck, that's all and he needed a quick answer.
I value your comments, they must help a number of people who read these topics but don't comment.
Not sure where Thorr works or has his business, hopefully my reply helped if not him, somebody else.
