Morocking, The weathers beautiful and the sea is nice and warm,( I test the sea for you nearly every day.) The beaches around Saidia are just like it says, fantastic. The infastructure is coming, The road from Oujda airport and the site will be direct, and is not far from completion. New parts of it opening from time to time. Journey time when complete will be about 45 minutes. On the negative side, the airport has not yet been increased in size, Ryanair have no plans to fly there in the near future. there is no motorway between fez and Oujda. This means, at the moment two air journeys from England to get here. Or Luton to Fez followed by a five hour train journey. Unless this changes where will your renters come from. Its all very well having a good road from Oujda, but how do you get to Oujda. I still believe it to be a good investment, all will be in place eventually. Just dont listen to those peeople who give dates in the near future.

Until Oudja airport has been expanded and Ryanair et al are flying there direct from major european cities Med Saidia will be the worlds biggest man made ghost town. Ive done the two flights and long journey thing and no way would anyone do that for a holiday when spains right next to it.

Thanks galemi - keep testing the water for me. I have done the trip, Heathrow - Casablanca - Oujda - very long and now way vaible. But if I were an airline I would still be in a wait see position. They will fly anywhere (if they can) where there is demand - its a catch 22. It wont be down to joe public but FADESA et al will lobby the airlines to fly there. They will, but may pull out if it not commercially viable - is that likely? - only if the dream turns into a nightmare.
Are there plans for the airport to increase in size? When I was there it wasn't that small - I have seen smaller at really popular destinations.

Morocking, I take your point about ryanair, and agree that they will come to Oujda and even run at a loss for a while to test the water. The problem is, when does this start, direct flights between GB and oujda are essential if it is to work. Have they been told a more realitic timetable and therefore do not see the point of flying there for another 2years? Oujda airport is going to be made bigger. This has been on the local news a few times. But it has not started yet. Oujda already has a lot of european flights so therefore is quite busy, it just does not include GB. It caters for ex-pat Moroccans who live in France, belgium and holland. Ryanair also promised Marseille to Oujda, but I think that fell through as well. Having said that, my opinion of the site is that it will be a success. eventually. If you believe Fadesas statistics 60% of buyers are from the UK. they expect 60% of the people who go there on holiday to be also from the UK. And they aint coming on 2 planes.

Buying in a Muslim country is always buying troubles. It is a different way of seing things.

Imoreal, The west coast of Morocco has had British buyers for thirty years, and I assume they are not concerned or troubled by it being a Muslim country. Looking at the world from different perspectives can be a rewarding experience.

Hi Imoreal, can you please elaborate on your thoughts. Maybe this forum can consider some of the troubles that may lay ahead. Thanks.

Galemi, have you had a chance to check out the Sahara Beach & SPA site yet?

London x Yes, had a look around, but all in early stages and no real shape to anything. Some concrete structures in place, thats all. I will post more as time goes by. Sorry. It will have good access to the beach, and is like Magnum closer than the others. Except for the hotels. What kind of finishing dates were you told? and did you buy in the apart hotel?

Galemi,
I am not sure if you have seen the plans for RT6. It is like an "E" shape and all appartments are sea facing. If you are standing at the rear end of the site, do you think the sea view be reasonable? What is the approximate distance from the site to the beach? 200m? 300m?
I have reserved the cheapest apartment available on the apart hotel which is on the first floor at the rear of the hotel (haven't completed yet though). They reckon building work will begin in early 2008 and completion will be in 2010.
Thanks for all your feedback.

London X, I have been looking at the plans of RT6. I can only imagine what it will be like, no real evidence yet. Should be about 300 metres from beach. I dont see how all can have sea views, but that is what they say. There are two hotels closer to the beach, although not in front of RT6 they still will restrict the view (like blinkers); I am picking some people up from the airport to take there on tuesday, Hopefully during the tour I can ask questions about RT6.

Galemi,
Thanks, that will be nice. I guess the people you are taking there are potential investors? it would be interesting what they think after the visit.

London X Good day at the site yesterday. Found out bits and pieces about almost the whole site. According to the man from Fadesa showing us round "the pace of building has increased". The first Villa has been signed over, final contract complete. I would expect this fact to be shown soon on their advertisments. I am sure they will want to make a big thing of it. The people were impressed, Like your apartment theirs is some way off completion, so they will have the advantage of seeing what the others do first. Not much extra news about RT6, apart from it is being built. The sea views will be better than I imagined. the hotels are further away. I asked if all apartments had sea views, and he said, he believed it was designed to do this, but was not sure how. We saw grass growing on the first golf course, although early stages, we know it has been done.

Welcome Fobia, the Magnum is the apartment complex which will be run like a hotel at the furthermost West point of Saidia. It is front line and is being built by Fadesa. It was one fon thye first fevelopments for sale at Saidia and the front line beach properties were reserved a long time ago. I don't know if there are any golf view apartments left, but if there are very few it may expalin why you can not find them on Agent's sites.
I visited the site in July last year and the construction work looked like it was about two thirds complete. I think progress on this plot has been slow since.
