Hi All, My brother has just announced that he and his wife intend to buy a house in Turkey and move out there lock stock and barrel when he retires next year. As they are not folk who have actually lived overseas, other than holidays, I'm worried about the risks that they face associated with buying property in an overseas location where the legal protections given to both buyers and sellers are not the same as we enjoy in the UK.
Can anyone offer any advice on the buying process and what buyers should be wary of, please?
hi, would recomend them to get a lawyer for definete and they sould always make sure that the place has title deed(tapu in turkish).buying and selling process is quite straight forward.once thye purchase a place they have to have contract done bye a lawyer and pay deposit than theire passport copy and title need will be sent for military clearance which take around 3-4 month.once its clear will go into deed office and finish of sale.properties in Turkey is free hold, you can also check out & contact legal buying guide from www.sovedaestate.com
