After the show, has anyone decided to raise their own chickens for eggs or eating?

I've been reading up on it and I think I will, we have plenty of room so we are just waiting on getting a chicken house built!

i really want to get my own chickens but i dont have enough room and my mum wouldnt let me anyway.

I am planning to when we move house, but already was before the show. Just for eggs, couldn't eat them myself.

Just been looking at space requirements and a Chicken shed and run for 3 - 4 birds would only take up an area of 2ft wide by 6ft long. Obviousley more room would be far better but 6x2 is far better than what hugh showed us.

We are waiting for this weather to clear up at the minute because it's raining non stop. Then we are going to attempt to build a chicken house, hopefully we can manage it!

I think it will be wonderful to get fresh eggs every day!

Iv asked my dad about wheather we should save a poor chicken and have it in the back garden. But he thinks we have no room . I really think people should do this cause its better to have free range than battery chicks.

I may ask him again cause iv already thought of a name for the chicken!!
