watching this current series has reignited a lifelong wish to have my own chickens. I was curious however, how much noise would say 10 chicken's or less make. as currently, I would have to have them in my garden and I am just concerned about the noise affecting my neighbours. Many thanks, Lee.

Unless you're planning on eating some of them or their eggs everyday-10 hens might be a wee bit too many!

Three chickens will lay on average 20 eggs per week which is often ample for a family.I however have two and they lay me two eggs a day! Any excess i give away to family, neighbours and friends.

Mine dont make hardly any noise except when i go into garden and they want treats, but 10 might create a bit of a din.Neither of my neighbours mind them and there isnt any clause in my deeds which prevent me from having them.

Do also consider the smell aspect too if you sit out in the garden in summer. They will need cleaning out often which helps prevent flystrike and nasty smells.Basically,be a good neighbour-keep them clean, keep them healthy and if you can let them freerange for a while in your garden as they're fantastic slug eaters!
