As I cant be bothered to set up a new log-in on another forum I thought I'd air my views on this show here.
I kind of watch the X-Factor every year as I have an interest in music in general and I am always baffled by how the final 12, 16 or however many make it to the LIVE shows are selected.

Sometimes it feels random and other times its based on who the Judges take a shine too.

This year it seems that 99% of the pre-formed groups that went along for the auditions simply wasted their time and effort even though quite a few of them were talented - the ones formed instantly by Loius and Simon from a rejects of solo auditionees were the ones that were put through to the final in the end Roll Eyes???

Are we supposed to take this show seriously ?
Also does this programme have any understanding of the concept of diversity (that your organisational demographics should reflect your customer base for optimum exposure and success??). Not one single 'black' man got through to the show's final 12 acts this year? Is that really a reflection of reality ? giving that some of the best world musicians/artist of all times are black men ?. Even the reasonable talented 'black group' were rejected in favour of the -instant- group of rejects. This really is a joke. If Syco and ITV expect people to continue to take this show seriously they need to review their selection criteria - which should be based purely on talent (and not just looks and who they like).

I quite agree with you, the whole thing is a fix! I'm quite sure it's decided beforehand who the eventual winner/s will be, and the phone votes are just a way of generating cash! Last years winner was a joke and the runner up even more ludicrous . Ben should have won, but he had a personality and an opinion!!! The previous year was farcical. Brenda or Andy should have won that, not Shayne "pretty boy" Ward. And answer me this Louis Walsh, if he's an internatinal star and doing so well, how come he's turning on the xmas lights in Slough?!!!!!

Enjoy X factor despite the fact (imo) that it's contrived and more about the judges than the contestants.

Kimberley was wonderful Big Grin

SmileLife is fantastic.......for some peopleFrown

There was absolutely no talent on display on the Show ...last night. You only have to watch American Idol to compare. Only 'Nikki' came close to being talented!

Regarding OP - you are contradicting youself in your post. On the one hand you question why there are no 'black' men or groups in the competition, but then you say the people should be chosen for talent not looks - so can't you accept that perhaps there were no 'black' men or groups good talented enough to be in the finals. Why is it some people have to make things about 'colour' IT DOESN'T MATTER.

There were some talented black groups and male singers. There were the 2 brothers and their friend, and the young boy!

Another point - how embarrassing is Sharon Osbourne - she comes across quite well n the audition shows but come to the live shows and she's attrocious. She embarrassess herself and the contestents. Lets hope she doesn't come back.

I've thought of another one - why do the judges play the whole 'I'm so upset i have to send someone home, I don't want to vote' card. they know they've got to do it every series...just get on with it.

I'm not saying there weren't any talented black goups or singers, but perhaps just not talented enough in the judges opinion. It's not just because they were black which is what the OP seems to suggest.

I think i can recognise good singing when i hear it. There were quite a few groups/ 'black' singers in the auditions that did not make it through. If you think SameDifference is talent then I am Mary Queen of Scotts. Lets keep it real. Shame simon cant !

And to re-iterate - its not about color - its about putting Acts who can really sing through as it is a singing competition not a popularity contest.

I KNOW it's not about colour - you were the one that brought the issue up about no black people getting through. If the point you are trying to make is that the 'talented' people (in your opinion) didn't get through, why bring black people into it, you give the impression you were jumping on the pc bandwagon.

Also, the singers may sound good to you on tv but I assume you are not a multi millionaire record producing expert who is actually in the room when the artists are singing live - which sounds completely different to what you hear on tv.

You are kidding yourself if you believe it's not a popularity contest, it's like most talent competitions, people normally cvote for who they like not necessarily who has the most talent.

Trust me SameDifference and a few others did not sound good at all. I cleaned my ears our several times. Big Grin
If Simon Cowell wants to run his own show into the ground by putting through mediocre talent then good luck to him.
There are black women on the show though so i am not necessarily complaining about the lack of blacks. But there were some black male auditionees who were more talented who did not get through. And there were groups both black and white who at the end of the day wasted their own time by coming to the audition as simon and louis did an instant group trickery with reject auditioness - laughable (i guess they think it makes good TV - novel Roll Eyes)

Some of the legendary artists that we know in the world today would never have gottten a chance if it was all down to wacky shows like this.
Thank God for Stevie Wonder.

You can't put a single legendary artist in the same boat as the idiots that go on these karaoke shows.

I know it's everyones own choice and blah but the people on X Factor aren't actually as crap as you lot make out.

Samedifference were goood! I mean some of you probably can't sing like them... okay so they aren't amazing but they're not that bad. Also Sharon is the best.

Wayhaay X Factor est la best Big Grin

There's no way round it... anyone that goes on these awful shows is useless; by going on such shows they are basically admitting that they want to take the easy road to fame and fortune without actually having any talent for people to enjoy or be impressed by. Sometimes there are TV shows which feature actors from soaps etc singing in the same way as these no hopers... people hear the actors singing and think 'Wow they're good, they sound just like the real singers' The reason why anyone can sound like today’s singers is because they are no good at singing meaning that anyone who doesn’t mind making an exhibition of themselves can do the same thing. There is nothing impressive about that. They couldn’t hold a note if it had a handle.

I have to sort of agree Officer....I mean you see them on there being interviewed and they give it all 'this is my life dream'. If it's their life dream why on earth haven't they done something about it before.....why? Because they're not good enough that's why.

I used to quite enjoy watching X Factor but the last couple of series have turned into 'The Sharon & Louis Saying The Complete Opposite To Simon Whether It's Right Or Wrong Just To Get A Clap From The Audience Show'. (What a catchy title!)

Right so the X Factor has its faults but the purpose is entertainment and be honest with yourself it wouldn't be as good without for example or the ridiculously bad auditions etc. Yes Sharon and Louis may have a different opinion to Simon but it's called reality tv so they aren't going to plan it out. If you see where I'm going?? And this whole 'this is my dream' thing. Maybe this is the first chance they've had to try and achieve their dream Confused

Rubbish. If they were any good at singing they would have made their own chances long a
