I watched a tiny bit of Invasion (and I mean tiny) and it didn't grab me at all. I used to be a huge fan of the X-Files and followed it religiously. At the time, it was refreshingly different, it was real and beleivable. But I just can't be bothered to watch Invasion. I doubt it'll be as good as the X Files, and so I don't really want to invest my time in watching it. And anyway, LOST has taken the X Files crown as best cult/sci-fi/drama on telly.

I never intended to start watching LOST, but it sounded like an interesting idea for a show and it was also sandwiched between Big Brother so I watched it to pass the time. I soon became hooked to it, but 5 minutes of Invasion and I wasn't interested.

sorry but this is really a stupid statement. there is no show in the world that you can get into if you only watch the first 5 minutes! even lost.

It's possibly the best opening of a drama series ever. Amazingly, in season 2, they manage to recreate the same feeling you have in the first five minutes of the pilot.

the first five minutes of lost was excellant but they had the money that season it was abc's main pilot show of 2004. abc now have put more of there money in dh and lost this year.

I really dont know how people compare both the shows- they are totally different.
both are excellant. Sal give it more than five minutes give it a chance. ive seen 9 episode and it is excellant

Part 1 was the worst of the three. It got better as it went along and is a good show.

Always give a show at least a few episodes.

But he means that after watching 5 minutes of Lost he was taken in..he wanted more..whereas Invasion good as it is, is not as captivating in comparison. Thats not to say its not very good which after watching all three episodes it clearly is..but it's kinda been done before [most recently with Threshold..which is on Sky currently] whereas Lost, although it uses many other elements of books, shows, philosophy etc, is absolutely original and groundbreaking..and just damn brilliant!!

Then he probably watches terrible shows. If action is all that grabs you then you have problems. any show can throw in a huge action scene at the start, but that doesn't mean it will be good.

I love Lost,I have the whole season on dvd,Im 9 eps into season 2. The opening was cool, but that wasn't what hooked me. It wasn't until the Locke revelation at the end of episode 4 that I was actually hooked and I knew this show was great.

I diagree D-Roc.

There was a show called the New People made in the 60's or 70's that was VERY similar to Lost. Plane crashed on a mysterious land and the survivors were a pregnant girl, doctor, young madam, etc...

I was just trying to explain what I understood from Salvadors agument about Lost being better than Invasion..I know it's not just the action..it's the way it was done..anyone can do action but the plane scene was brilliant [better than most movies even!]

I agree with you..Walkabout is when i properly became 'hooked'..that episode was amazing..and that sort of emphasises why i love Lost so much as it's not just crash-bang-wallop action fuelled..it requires thought, has great character driven moments, provokes debate and discussion..i could go on and on..

Yeah, I take your word on that one Abbott [That title does sound familiar actually?]..what i meant was that it's 'orignal' in the way it delivers itself to the viewer..There was also a programe called Richard Bently's Amazon, or something like that [on C5 recently] which was like a 90's version of Lost. But i just feel that Lost is like the total package..i know it's not perfect..but i personlaly have never seen a more gripping and interesting 'drama'.

Shouldn't this be on like a non Invasion forum, maybe general. I know it features it but still...

I did watch it and liked it. I'll follow it but I haven't really gotten into as much as I have anything else on TV at the minute

Listen lost was about a plane crashing on an island of course it is going to have excellant effects to catch the audience. invasion is about a strom that brings beings from another world of course lost would have a thrilling start. lost introduced its characters in the first few hours they had a longer time to do so. invasion introduced their main charcters before the storm happened. different format and type of shows

I didn't really like Lost's Pilot, I don't even know why I carried on watching, I must of sensed it was going to get good.

Anyway, I know what Salv means by you can't be bothered to watch it, I'll probably still vaguely watch it while I'm sitting here on a Sunsay but I won't be fascinated by it.

But whats your point Lost fan? Like i said both are excellent but Lost is better. Invasion chose to adopt the format it has, it doesnt mean that Lost should be knocked for having a more effective opening/pilot..should it!?
