is russell a hybrid?

yes, no, maybe! - what do we know?

its pretty clear jesse isnt a hybrid, (certainly not of the new breed), so either jesse isnt russel's son, or russell & jesse are different types of hybrid - maybe those with illnesses/conditions such as kira & hybrids of another type are both rejected.

still confused over mariel's reaction to larkin's scan - did she see something, or was she just jealous?

we already have doubts about rose's parentage

tom appears to be 'different' to the new breed of hybrid - maybe they are more evolved. did you notice though tom can 'sense' another hybrid in his presence (so why not russell?). when tom meets the escaped airman he instantly realises he is a hybrid and is attracted to the glass of 'water' he is holding.

maybe tom does know russell is a hybrid, but it is not in his interest to reveal it - remember 'russell is the only one tom can trust'.

^yeah thats because Tom and Russel are both allies in the fact that they both want to do whats best for EVERYONE.

they are both on the side of their town. Russel being the human side and Tom being the hybrid side. but they are both fighting to protect their town first.


also you seem to be suggesting different types of hybrids and I don't know why?? as far as we know there is only one type of hybrid!!!

No, I def think there are different variety of upgrades. Russell being the first kind, Tom another and Mariel the newer version its why they also have different reaction to different things, like Mariel's strong reaction to water which doesnt seem so bad compared to Rusell and Tom.

Please read this for more theories on the types of hybrid.

everybody has reacted differently to the change. next your gonna be sayign that EVERY hybrid is a different type of hybrid.

also you have to realise that these changes aren't as apparent in Tom because he has lived with them for so long and is used to it.

whereas the other people like Mariel are only just getting used to it.


the other thing you have to realise is that these creatures have created hybrids all over the world. I think all this time they have simply been gathering in numbers, preparing for a large-scale invasion. not experimenting to come up with the perfect hybrid.


but atm we can't rule it our, obviously, because we don't know enough about the actual creatures themselves. thats what annoys me. you see the military experimenting on hybrids, but why aren't they experimenting on the actual creatures?? maybe they are.

anyway, the only way there can be different "types" of hybrid, is if there are different "types" of those creatures in the water. but as far as we know there is only one type of creature in the water that is creating hybrids.

by the way, Lea, how active is that Invasion site you posted? I saw you have posted there, but I was wondering how many people there still post.

its a mainly american site and I'm not sure how far ahead they are. but most of the activity on that forum seems to date back to Nov-Dec 2005.

The American's see the show only a few days before we do. I think they watch it Wednesday and then the first showing here is sunday. They only have to episodes left like us. I've had quite a few replies so far. And they do seem to be up to date on their episodes summaries.

This is the official abc message board for invasion so it is mostly american like the other one.

There is no way Russel is a hybrid, trust me. The other hybrids with Zura call him (Russel) human and since hybrids know who is and who isnt human, they clearly would not have said it. Like one episode i saw when someone mentioned Tom Underlay helping the 'human'.

But he is possibly not the same type of hybrid as Szura and even Tom so maybe they do not recognise him as a hybrid!

well i saw in 1 episode that they will need russell "to help contain this" so maby they dont want him to know

yea see they need Russell's 'help to contain this'. He knows to much for a normal person so you think they would try to get rid of him but they need him as one of them to help them. He will not just go away!

Did anyone else notice that when Szura went up to the captured Russell he said to Mariel, what is it with you and your choice or men! She married Tom when he was already a hybrid so is he implying that Russell is as well?1? Or is he just saying that she goes for trouble makers!!

But then what about when Russell was walking down that tunnel and all the hybrids were looking at him and telling him he was in the wrong queue? is that coz he is human? or like some people think, a different 'type' of hybrid?!?

Helen that was exactly what I thought, when Russ was walking down the tunnel, every person in the tunnel was lookin at him as if he shouldnt be there and one of them said the same. I dont think there are other types, just one and Russell isnt one... though I dont understand why Tom is against it all now when he sent people away to the island in the first place!!

I think he's against it as it wasnt what he originally planned. He set up the island to help people cope and then to be there if there was another hurricane to help those who were 'changed'. I dont think he intended them to force people to change, like what is being done in the warehouses, just to help those who were caught up in the storm and 'accidently' changed!

SPOILERS FOR CHANNEL 4 VIEWERS:

ok two major things i noticed about last night's show. One was when Russell was walking through the group of hybrids trussed up in that corridor and they were all staring at him saying 'your in the wrong room!' as if he should be with the humans and where they are being held.
Firstly this does nothing to reinforce my idea that Russell could possibly be a hybrid (sorry rascal) as the hybrids didnt not recognise him as one of them...however!!!! they may not have recognised him as one of them because he could possibly be a different hybrid than they are, as Tom must be too or else he would be going along with Szura whether he wanted to or not because he HAD to. Also I wonder if those hybrids in the corridor would have had the same reaction to Tom if he had walked through the corridor too!?

Secondly, i was VERY surprised to see that Szura just let Russell go once he had gotten Mariel in the same room!!! I thought he was about to beat the hell out of Russell! I mean these two should be like enemies, Szura should have put Russell in the cell not Mariel! He seemed to just walk away and let him be released to twart all of Szura plans! One possible explanation for this is that he knows he is a hybrid and knows therefore that he cant not simply just get rid of him!

Was a bit obvious that Tom was gonna come to Kira's aid when that bloke was chasing after her. My o/h said 'dont worry i bet her dad comes to the rescue to save her' and then he did!

The pregnant hybrids was a good storyline, seems that the storms has triggered all their labours off. One of them was only 3 weeks gone!

Good to see Lewis is not on Szura's side after all as he helped Dave out with the psycho police officers.

I agree that bit was very weird. Why just leave him there and not even tie him up or anything. as if they wont try and escape! Szura's lack of action does seem back up the russell = hybrid theory. But maybe he just figures there are so many hybrids about, and will soon be even more, that they wont be able to escape! And besides, once all the people are hybrids, including russell's family, they will, i guess, out number the humans so it wont matter!

Some of them humans will be rejected cos they dont take the sick or imperfect dna humans, like Kira.

That's true. But the hybrids will still outnumber the humans i reckon.

I'm curious about what will happen to Carlita, Rose's cat! do you think there can be animal hybrids as well!
