The vicar/priest chap that runs the 'support group' has featured prominently in a way that makes me think that he must be very significant.

Could it be that the aliens that have landed in Florida are a different lot to the ones that have invaded elsewhere, & the Florida ones have been sent to get rid of the others? And the Reverend bloke is the leader? (I.e. Florida aliens = good, aliens in South America & elsewhere = bad).

Just a thought.

Annajane, I think there must be 2 types too, I don't think it's going to be as clean cut as good/bad, because the symptoms have varied so much.
Ie; The girl who had the baby, went off on one didn't she? The blokes son that looked like a zombie.
The Marial/Tom ones seem to act 'normally'!
Oh I don't know, am waffling. Big Grin Confused

That's the problem with this - there are so many 'strands' that I end up forgetting half of them ...

I'd completely forgotten the girl who had the baby (which didn't have the same DNA as her, or whatever it was), & the zombie son. Also there was the mystery virus contracted by one of the swamp wildlife wardens (that Tom was completely immune to). But I think there must be some significance in the fact that the priest has something to do with it, i.e. that Christianity has always been "good".

Very confusing indeed!

So if their is good and bad aliens the Florida aliens being the 'good' aliens then Russell is a bad South American alien, the original ones. No wonder he hates Tom as his 'kind' have been running things and now this new breed have come into the mix!!!

But I don't want Russell to be a bad alien !!!!

That would REALLY upset me!

Hi

Yes I agree there are probably different types of alien.

I also believe that there is something special about the florida water. the local 'contaminated water is an important key (forgive the pun).

any thoughts

Lea, where are you getting these theories from? Big Grin What I find strange is that Tom said he saw hundreds of lights when his plane crashed and yet he was the only one who survived cos he was obviously invaded. It kinda makes me think that some others were invaded but the process didn't take making Tom a one-off. I hope Sunday's ep gives a good explanation.

Father Scanlon still seems more of a priest than a hybrid to me although he was useless at stopping the group from beating up that guy. Imagine if all the hybrids started turning on each other. It'd be all out war! Eek

So half-way through then ... if all this has happened so far, then I dread to think what the 2nd half will be like!!!

The water definitely seems to be doing a lot of damage. In what way do you think it could be important? I haven't given it that much thought but you're right - it probably is fairly crucial.

No!! He has been subtly singled out in an assortment of 'meaningful' shots ... I am pretty convinced that he's a major player in all this.

I do know something about the part he'll play but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. What I meant with him is that everything he says is quite ambiguous. You can interpret his words either way - to his belief in God or his invasion.

Yes, you're right. He didn't really say very much at all for ages - in fact the most I've ever heard him say was to Tom when he was fretting about Lewis/Mariel. He definitely subscribes to the Tom Underlay "how to speak cryptically" school of thought ...

And as for his future role in the proceedings, I just can't imagine! Confused

hi annajane, hi all,

the reason i think the water is so important is because the florida cell of aliens seems to be the only group that is thriving - there has to be something about the location and the fact that the water is 'contaminated' might be important.

You are probably right. Although the water must be badly contaminated for it to be killing off all the wildlife etc.

So do you think that the Florida aliens are 'good' aliens then?

I think they may be the 'good aliens' or if not good ones just simply a new breed of alien that has more of a conscience. I mean I think were supposed to think their not necessarily the bad guys because they go to Church but look how they ganged up and beat that guy up outside the Church!

hi again

do i think the aliens are good aliens? - not sure. the problem with the program is that i get the feeling much of the story is conceived as it goes along - so the producers themselves may have little idea what's going to happen in say 2 shows time. the importance and relevance of characters can change by the minute, so character development conceived at the beginning of the show might well change dramatically. all eventualities are left open & i don't think we will truly know until the last scene of the last ever episode, and even then it might not be clear.

i think it was a clever move to reveal 'dave' as his alien self - this helps to bring larkin on board. larkin will want to protect her 'brother', so is unlikely to leak anything now.
