hi
just had a thought on the robin hood book & why tom may have given it to rose.
rose like most kids has been brought up to believe right is right and wrong is wrong with no grey areas. of course robin hood steals from the rich and gives to the poor - stealing is stealing, so i think tom is trying to get over to rose that sometimes u have to do 'bad' things for the general good - all people are capable of evil deeds, but not all people are evil.
any thoughts

wow! thats a cool theorie, i think that when the hybreds attack, jesse and the kids left from school should be making a massivse stand with baseball bats and guns! that would be real cool, ne other thoughts about this topic?

I agree, Frank. I think all the gifts given to the kids had a significant meaning. I hadn't realised that the book Rose got was Robin Hood but yeah, it seems likely that it is a way of showing how everything is not so black and white. and that, like you said, sometimes bad things are done but for a good reason. what matters is the intent. the gun, obviously a symbol of becoming a man or something. the responsibility that comes with owning a weapon, and also the power to fight for what you believe is right.
