I think it beacuse the sheriffs wife died in a plane crash and i think that she was mutated into an alien and thats wats in the water. And by the way how do we knows its an alien?

yes you can have a virus invasion into the body.

maybe they chose the name for its ambiguous meaning. maybe it not only means alien invasion, but also an invasion of other things as well.
could there be an alien like virus which is transmitted threw water that is preparing humans in some way to submission making the actual alien invasion all the more easier.

How exactly do we know that its is an alien we dont. Invasion can mean any number of things. Can you prove your point by saying its an alien.

i cant prove my point but its only an idea. it may not be alien, but then again what are the lights that rosie saw in ep1, and the glowing lights in the water???
if its not alien what is it? glowing flying fish that attack humans and insert dolphin like haemoglobin into the human blood stream therefore transforming the body to adjust to underwater envirinments??

The only reason they are confined to the water is because if it came out of the water, then they will be seen by the others, therefore no it's not confined to the water, it can come out.
