I haven't watched Invasion, before anyone yells at me but the trailer reminded me a hell of a lot of Threshold on Sky One (which I do watch and like quite a lot) Here's just some of the stuff I saw that looked very simular: The lights-something about lights in Invasion if I'm correct? On Threshold a strange object gave out a blinding light and a eerie sound. The characters-From what I've read in the magazines and the info from the trailer, there's a group of people trying to find out the source of the aliens (feel free to dismiss me at any point, my knowledge is limited) and in Threshold they have the 'Red Team' who track down infectees of the aliens.
That wasn't a LOST comparison, so you can't complain
it has certain similarties i suppose, though it has alot more differences. You really need to watch both before you can really distinguish the two part, as they are unique in themselves rather than following the same story.
The plot differs from Threshold. Threshold is about an unidentified E.T object that comes from the sea and infects a boat of shipmen, who, which with the escaped shipment spreads a deadily virus, which the team then investigate.
Where as invasion is about a hurricaine that hits a city and unidentified lights pollute the sea and after the aftermath wierd happenings and changes start happening to the people in the city
Character wise, Threshold is a team of misfitted scientist, forensic and what not, working secretly with the goverment to investigate the incident on the ship and the deadily virus
Where as the characters in invasion, is based around a specific family, which seem all connected in one way or another. Based from 1st 2 episode i seen are starting to see wierd changes and happenings after the hurriciane
Personally, i watched threshold and like the opening 1st episodes, though i did find it go repetitive with the team just investigating a new case each week. Cant say i liked invasion that much, it was promising but really didnt grab my attention, it was a casual watch, though that was about it
I enjoyed the premier of Threshold, but it immediantly went into being a repetative 'infectee of the week' so I gave up on it. And yes, it was cancelled about 1/2 way through its run...
Thats exactly what i thought Screwedup..I think the premise of possible alien colonisation of earth via hybridisation through humans is very similar..however like ive said before Threshold flattered to deceive..it is sooo disapointing..i think Invasion, even at this early stage has far better developed and 'human' characters and a far more involving plot..
Abbott..i didnt know Threshold got axed after 12 episodes though..that is inbteresting yet not suprising! I think Thresehol is currently on epi 9 or something.. ..does that mean we dont get to find out what happens? ..or was it originally planned for only 12 episodes and the second season got cut?
threshold was supposed to have 13 episodes (hopeing it would get a full season order). It did get the go ahead for three more episodes but was then 1 week later axed with 12 episodes in the can.
All 12 will be shown by SKy (some of them a world premiere I would imagine).
Originally posted by The_Abbott: when sky first showed it it wasn't axed. I think it was axed a week AFTER Sky starting showing it.
Typical Sky, always get the shows that get axed.
They have bought Bones so that will probably be axed next!
Channel 5 have bought Prison Break - sort of 24 but in prison!!
Bravo have brought the new Kolchak but that was axed after 9 episodes.
Really? haha..i hope sky's programe scheduling manager didnt get a bonus at Christmas!
Yeah, I can see Bones getting axed too..Sky have only really had The 4400 as a good drama over recent years [as far as I can remember] and even season 2 of that I think failed to deliver!
Do you know if 'Weeds' also got axed from Sky..they reallympromoted that but i havent seen it on recently..
D-roc - Sky did have Hex which was pretty good & home grown. They had first dibs on Star Trek enterprise (though this has been cancelled earlier than you would expect a Trek francise to be) But they do have the excellent Battlestar Galatica - which starts series 2 this week
Threshold's still on on Wednesdays, only the US have axed it. Weeds had a season finale a few weeks ago and is on hiatus until the US shows a few more eps but it has been green lit for a second season (just to answer).
Threshold is only on Sky One for a few more weeks, the makers won't make new episodes for a British tv channel when it was primaerily an American show.
