Yeah I felt really sorry for her. She's like lost everyuthing in like 30minutes. I thought it was nice to care about Justin rather than her humiliation. I know she did a bad thing, but she knew she was wrong, and it isn't like she intended for it to happen, because she did at first stay away from Justin, but she couldn't help falling for him.
tru tru my friend but i fink laws shud change when ur over 16 i no for a fact a tecaher at my old skl dated a girl when she was still there he sent hwer emails but skl had no proof that it was nothin more lol so yeah!
I do feel sorry for her. People can't put it down to pain over her dad or anything else because it started long before that. It was a natural development of feelings. People can also claim that she doesn't really love him, but from watching tonight you can see how much is true, she put herself in danger by trying to stop Jake from hurting him, she followed him and her concern was about if he was ok. That shows a lot, i think.
The law about teachers not getting involved with anyone under 18 in my opinion is ridiculous. If any other 16 year old is allowed to have sex and make decisions as to who they have a relationship with, that shouldn't be changed just because the person you happen to fall in love with is a teacher.

I feel sorry 4 Becca. It's been obvious that her relationship with Jake wasn't working from before they got married (Jake's affair etc) and Jake has an anger problem...and violence problem...and lots of problems!!! Well done police 4 arresting him!

Personally I think she got what was coming to her, it's not as if she "lost everything in 30 minutes" as somebody previously mentioned, she lost it through months of lies and deceit in full knowledge of what she was doing. I remember that Jake had an affair not so long back, I've read many comments about Jake having no right to get angry due to this. I'm sorry, but "an eye for en eye" just doesn't cut it with something like this.

When watching I didn't get the impression she was trying to stop Jake to protect Justin, it seemed to me more like she was trying to stop Jake to avoid any further humilliation to herself by not publicising her affair any further. But I guess people will see that scene in different ways based on their own prejudices and draw their own conclusions.

The laws are in place for a reason, they are to stop Teachers from taking advantage of young people, not to stop people from being in a relationship with those that they love.

that was very well put, i still think justin got a crush on becca due to the fact that she listened to him etc... many young people do that when they feel lonley and unheard.

exactly, and it is also to stop any gray areas, with the law being there everyone knows where they stand, and if they are "so in love" then they will still be when the student reaches the legal age that they can be in a relationship
Becca's and iditot and doesn't deserve any sympathy. She would have known all about the law regarding Teacher/Pupil reelationships but ignored them. She still could have been a supportive teacher, but made it clear to Justin that she was only trying to help him as a teacher and not a friend.

All those that think it's fine for a pupil to have a relationship with, not just A teacher but with THEIR teacher, I'm sure that your attitude would change if it were your 16 year old daughter that came home saying she was pregnant and it was Mr.Bloggs, her history teacher that did the dirty deed. As so many others have said, the law is there for protection not for denial. For every ten to twenty "Becca's" there are the one or two "Ian Huntley's" that slip through the cracks. Would we like it easier for them to have access to children?

LOL in reality they get a suspended sentance and put on the register.

Honestly, if my 16 year old daughter came home and told me she was pregnant by anyone, i'd want to chop their bits off. But that's a mother for you. It's not about being objective when you're a mother.
Right now what i believe is what i believe and i feel strongly about it. And i suspect in 10 years time unless i change drastically i will still feel as strongly about my opinions (although the issues may be different) but when it comes to your child, what you believe doesn't really come into it. You just think that it's your child.
That's just what i think though.

Any father would be angry, no matter how old the daughter or, for that matter, the baby's father. But I'd have to accept eventually that it takes two to tango.
And how can you compare Becca with Ian Huntley? He got jobs in schools to feed his fantasies, neither Becca nor Justin went looking for this.
Would Becca have strayed if her marriage was fulfilling?

Two to tango, but one of those two is in a position of trust. The fact that Becca and Justin may or may not be in love is irrelivent, love is not something that can be quantified, therefore we can not eaily draw a line between a case like Becca's and another one where the teacher took advantage. Therefore, the law has to apply the same for everyone regardless of circumstance.
