kids develop multiple personality disorders when theyve been through something traumatic
so maybe thats how he dealt with it

it wont be multiple personality disorder. hollyoaks normally deals really well and accuratly with issues eg hannah's anorexia but that would just show poor understanding of multiple personality disorder. i agree that eli is not real though and newt has some issues

Im no expert but I think that people with multi-personality disorder arent aware of their other personalities, therefore this seems unlikely. Im not sure Hollyoaks would cover that either because alot of medical professionals dont even believe in it really.

If he's seeing and hearing things that arent there in all likelyhood it is schzophrenia, i'll be very interested to see how that is dealt with.

I agree OP, well spotted, I didn't even think of that lol. I hope HO do a storyline like that with Newt. I think that would be wicked, the only other soap to do a storyline like that was EE years ago, which worked so well.

Eli isn't Newt's 'bad-side' because when Eli first appeared on Hollyoaks he grabbed Newt around the neck and Newt obviously didn't just imagine being nearly strangled by the air!

Schzophrenics do hear voices but they also see and hear people who arent there, they can feel themselves being touched as well. And they believe that they are real.

you are correct, but the point i was making (probably not very well though), was that if it was schizophrenia he would be aware that he was doing the things that eli did, like spilling the drink which newt saw as eli doing. due to that it cant be schizophrenia, multiple personality would explain the drink incident.

Well im not sure that you are right about that tbh, but i'll take your word for it. If it is multi personalities then it will be interesting to see, I really dont know that much about that disorder as far as im aware not much is known about it so I hope that Hollyoaks handles it responsibly.

Sorry I just read that back and it didnt come out right and this thing wont let me edit it. What I was wondering was if people with schizophrenia always know what they're doing, from personal experience I can certainly say that alot is immediatly forgotten, but that's not how it happened with Newt right enough, yeah it's true that I guess they would be aware that they were smashing up bottles and stuff rather than thinking someone else was doing it.

I didnt mean to question you're knowledge on multi personality disorder, Im actually starting to think that this theory may be right. I am concerned about it though cause I think it is the case that not much is known about it, I hope HO does a good job covering it.
