jp's response to 'doing darren' lol - jp's answer is about darren being straight - shows how jp is still trying to validate his airport decision about the importance of the 'gay label'. jp could have given loads of other answers, but this was the one he chose.
then there's bk trying to camp up jp - think that's supposed to reinforce the whole 'jp in gay world' thing. (after all - jp of old would have taken anger out on his punchbag rather than dance to the spice girls lol. remember how he reacted with spike on the s-club 7 occasion?) and with priesty 'doing the gay dance' too - could that be meant to reinforce the fact that both are happy being gay?
i do think that this is all part of a lesson for jp - will show him that even though he thought he could achieve happiness by being with someone comfortable with the 'gay label', in the end ... 'it's not about being gay, it's about who you fall in love with'.
definitely significant that jp was speaking to mercedes about 'not getting any' before the priesty scene - would imagine that reinforces the fact that mcpriest is more about the physical than the emotional. after all, jp and priesty don't know any more about each other than they did when jp said as much a few weeks ago.
I do watch eastenders and quite liked stacey/max affair but it dragged on for AGES and wasn't a patch on Craig/ John-Paul
