Well, what can I say, I honestly didn't think Emma stood a chance of getting Best Actress at the Soap Awards against the likes of EastEnders. But she did, and it's a wonderful achievement both for her and Hollyoaks.
Emma has been absolutely wonderful and a joy to watch in the last year. She continues to excel whenever she's on screen with very mature and heart-felt performances.
Congratulations Emma, you really deserved this award and I hope this puts you on the map with casting directors across the industry. And I also hope this will finally lay to rest the negative perception of Hollyoaks being full of "pretty people who can't act" once and for all. Well done!

Well sadly the mud-slinging has already begun - the EastEnders brigade on other forums are trying to say Emma only won by default because the vote was split.
Why can't they just realise the best person won on individual merit? And the best actress did win for a truly original storyline.

As Jo's biggest fan lol I am very happy for Emma, I wanted Jo to win, I voted for her like 8 times lol IMO Jo is a better actress then Emma, but Jo won BDP, and I am very happy she won that, even more happy HO beat Corrie
Emma is the best actor HO has, they defo need to keep her.
Next year I hope Jo is up again and wins Best Actress, because I think she one, if not, the best in any soap.

Well i think June Brown should do the specch and Corrie is crap! Emmerdale is also crap but i felt sorry for it, same with Doctors.

James sutton is right all they ever do in eastenders is argue and shout, sorry eastenders fans but its true.
I think even EE fans will agree that Hanah's anorexia story should have won best storyline over Max and Stacey's affair.

Wow I am SO pleased for Emma! I think she did an amazing job throughout her storyline and thoroughly (sp?) deserved her award!! Aww I can't wait to see her face! OMG i'm just so happy that Hollyoaks won the most awards of the night!! I do really like Eastenders and quite like Corrie (tho it's gone down a lot recently!) but Hollyoaks is just SO much better imo! Well done Hollyoaks, especially Emma - you've done us all proud! (although still think McDean should have won best storyline! )
