she still sees some good in him and wants to prove to people he is a good person and also she doesnt want to prove to people that they where wrong about him

She felt sorry for him at first and I think she was prepared to cut him some slack due to his own troubled upbringing and family background. Also, after he hit her he always got all upset and apologised and naively she believed his promises and forgave him. But now that she's trying to get away she can't because her dad and Sarah have cut her off and so she's trapped as she has nowhere else to go.

I really feel sorry for Amy, it's like she's really trapped in a situation with Ste. Especially now that her family's turned against her.
I don't think it's that easy to leave for her. I think Ste has so much control over her at this stage - it will be really really difficult for her to cut herself off from him completely. And what if he comes after her?
I think a better question is WHY is Ste hitting Amy? Just because he comes from a bad background, does that give him the RIGHT to hit Amy? I don't think violent people necessarily come from violent families, what do you think?

It's all a matter of nurture Vs nature. Is it in his genes already to be violent or was it because of the way he was brought up. If it's all he's ever known with his alcoholic mother and her violent boyfriends. And if he hung around in violent gangs and whatnot.

My question about the storyline isn't so much about the characters, but why we're having two domestic abuse storylines so close together. Something in the water of Chester?

Because the writers decided she wouldn't. That's the only decent explanation since anyone in reality would realise that they would be a total fool putting themselves in harms way staying with someone like that, she had a perfectly good home to return too with a loving father and sister, and instead she alienated them in that grotty little flat with a boyfriend who regularly hits her, steals things and then makes out his child has a life threatening illness to cover himself.

Well they showed Nancy getting out as soon as it turned physical, it was a lot more mental abuse with her and Jake.
The reality is that it happens. It's nice to think you would leave straight away, but you don't know until it happens. Imagine you really think someone is different and you believe that they're sorry, it's really easy to have an opinion until you're emotionally involved.
It happens to the strongest of people, and they can have great friends and family around them, but they hide it easily and really think things will get better.
I hope I never find myself in that situation, but I can honestly say I don't know what I would do, I'd like to think I would get out, but abusers have a way of manipulating people.


I'd like to quit thinking of the present, like right now, as some minor, insignificant preamble to somethin' else

because just like many women in her situation they love their partners and the partner always says sorry and it won't happen again blah blah blah, Ste has also made her become alienated from her family which is what violent partners do so she literally has no other choice than to stay with him, I do feel sorry for her tho just like I do other women in her situation, I just know in my heart that if a man ever raised his hand to me I would be gone but then I am a lot older than Amy but that is no reason, she is a lost little soul that doesn't know what to do for the best I just hope that she and all women like her find the strength to say no and mean it, I know she's only a character in a soap but this happens for real every single day to women and men
