Nancy's quirky dress sense causes a bit of a stir in tonights episode. Do you think she dresses appropriately to be teaching at a school or should she change her style?
We already know Nancy doesn't play by the rules when it comes to her dress - to the extent that when she was a pupil she held a gun to the headmistress' head and forced her to axe uniform for the sixth form (although as I've hinted before, I think this was a plot device because having sixth formers in uniform was one aspect of Hollyoaks which hadn't moved with the show's refocus towards younger characters and it detracted from the "sex appeal" of the show not to have sixth formers dressing individually).
From that perspective, if Nancy didn't play by the school dress code as a pupil why should we expect her to behave any different as a teacher? Not that her clothes are too "way out" anyway like that.
If you look at George in Doctors she's basically an older version of Nancy in how she dresses, right down to the pink hair dye. So if it's OK for a GP why not a teacher?
NO! If she worked in any secondary school in the UK she would either get comments thrown at her by one of the pupils, or somebody from management would have a private word in her ear. How on earth is she meant to gain the pupils respect if she continues to wear what she is wearing and they see her as one of them instead of an authoritive figure.
It's like Becca and her extremely short skirts. No wonder Justin fancied her. She was giving out the wrong impression. Instead of being professional and businesslike, she was too concerned with how she looked. Don't get me wrong wear nice clothes but ones that are suitable for the job you are doing.

I meant yes she should change her style, but because the question on the poll is different to the one on the thread I wrote no instead. Yes she should change her style. Tis not appropriate for working in a school.

I teach and would never get away wearing jeans, but I do try and keep individual. I have never owned let alone worn a suit.Nancy shoul sy individual but should tone it down.
At my school we have a handbook for students on placement with a section on dress code. I can't remember what it says exactly but basically as staff we have to be smart and presentable, so I'd guess the same goes for students.
i think as long as she isn't revealing too much, and as long as her clothes are hygenic looking (not scruffy) then it's fine.a majority of teachers at my old school would wear jeans...there was one teacher who even made her own clothes out of curtains and stuff, but she's a great teacher so that's all that counts,in my opinion.
I think that unless a uniform is provided then they should be able to dress as they like. Nancy is Nancy and she cant be turned into someone she isnt. She wouldnt look right any other way.
Marching On Together “Ross: First divorce, wife's hidden sexuality...not my fault. Second divorce, said the wrong name at the alter...kinda my fault. Third divorce, they shouldn't let you married when you're that drunk and have stuff written all over your face...Nevada's fault.
no i don't think it was appropriate. it was like rubbing the kids face in it by wearing what she wants rather than smart clothes while they are in uniform. its hiporcritical (sp?) and unproffessional.
I think Nancy looks fine as she is - why should a teacher have to submerge who they are by wearing corporate c**p! You think Nancy looks outrageous you should see what my sister wears to school and she is the head of dept in a big comprehensive!
