Somewhat early exit for her. Also she was somewhat lucky to get a job on Hollyoaks considering her shall we say limited acting skills - her agent gave her some bad advice me thinks in letting her give up Hollyoaks.

Well I suppose she could do Panto. They are always in need of staff at the tickets stalls.

It could be that she has simply decided to move on. But very often when an actor or a soap producer "is leaving" that is what the PR men want us to believe - media-speak for "they've been sacked" or "their contract is not being renewed".

Likewise when Emily "left" The X Factor - the official line was she left of her own accord. Rubbish! She was axed and the "left" stance was cooked up by the PR men to make Simon Cowell look good.

Hannah was not axed!

She had many resons for leaving some she is happy to tell the media others she is not!

shes a londoner and misses home. she misses her family. she misses her friends.

had enough of hollyoaks and living in liverpool, thinks the higher profile will help her get a gig in a london based show.

she signed a contract extension back when clare was pushed which would have seen her in the programme til aug/ sept next year but obvioulsy cut it short.

for wnhtever reason she wanted to leave but if she knew that she was a popular character or actress despite being hiomesick she might have seen her contract out. as it is shes viewed it is "i wont be missed anyway so..."

hannah tointon is from southend not london.

she left hollyoaks as she said in an interview that she wants to try out new things and only stays at one place for a year!

Steve Frost and Kath Beedles recently announced they were "leaving" as producers of Corrie and Emmerdale respectively. But the TV insiders posting on Digital Spy and other media forums, these are people who work in television and know all about the "spin" used by the PR men, quickly pointed out that neither had left voluntarily at all and that ITV had removed them to shake up the respective shows.

With this in mind we have to consider the possibility that Hannah may not be leaving Hollyoaks voluntarily. Then again she might be.

i've also seen a thread on here relating to her leaving HO,apparently it's due to all the negative feedback she gets...HO haven't axed it,it was her choice to leave.
and she might not be the best actress in the world,but i wouldn't say she's crap...ok...so she wasn't fab' when she first entered HO,but i think her acting skills have improved heaps since the clare kidnapping her thing.

It's understandable an actress feeling she isn't wanted because of negative viewer response, on the other hand it's understandable that a producer would not want an actress who hasn't been positively received either.

I wouldn't believe anything Butcher Deadwood has to say on Hollyoaks. I suspect the decision to axe Hannah was taken at the last meeting the writers had when planning future storylines. The realised that she wasn't any good and decided to axe not only her but possibly the role of Katy completely.

It's all very diplomatic to say she leaft of her own choice, and means she has a chance to find work again. However if it was released she was axed as the reason she was leaving then it wouldn't bode well for Hannah's future, as other casting directors would ask why was she axed when she goes for auditions.

Look at Davinia Taylor's carrer after she left Hollyoaks with a reputation as being a difficult actress to work with, and getting the sack. Her career nose dived as a result.

Deadwood I feel is two faced. He might have given the reason Darren Jeffries wanting to leave as Darren wanting to move one, and Darren isn't exactly going to say his character was axed incase he cannot find work because of it. I suspect Deadwood's motives with regards to all the original cast and characters from the early years of Hollyoaks as well, and that he want's to get rid of them eventually. Why have they suddenly built Darren up again as a character ?. This usually a sure sign a character who is only minor is going to leave when they give them a bigger storyline. And why has Deadwood said that the Osbourne's as a whole will feature more heavily ?. Especially given the spoilers already released about what is going to happen to them.

With Max and O.B split up what future has Max got without him. Are they going to make Steph into O.B's female equivelant to get more mileage out of Max or have them leave. After all an open air juice bar in Winter isn't likely to get much customers when they have a juice bar in Body Boost as well.

I doubt even Tony is safe either given his recent storyline of a secret son appearing from nowhere and then hardly featuring at all since. Given there isn't many more people his own age to sleep with in the village where does his future lay if they break him and Jacqui up.

According to Inside Soap it said that she only had a year's contract on it anyway and she wasn't going to renew it.

Nearly all the cast only get a short term contract when they join now. It's then reviewed depending on how good they are.
It saves Lime Pictures getting someone who turns out to be bad and having to pay out the rest of that persons contract if Lime Pictures axes them.

But if Lime Pictures offered Hannah a 12-month contract, as has been suggested, they have ended up falling flat on their faces in the very way they'd wish to avoid by giving anyone else a shorter signup.

I suggest Hannah was only given such a long contract given her "connections".

The more established cast - or ones that are going to be involved in long running storylines are usually given contracts of a couple of years.

I suspect Hannah was only given a short contract to see how she fitted in. And even then it would depend on the contract itself as to how much she was paid and how many episodes she was expected to appear in.

Mykala Dood in her autobiography stated how much she was offered when she joined Hollyoaks and even details of the exact number of episodes she would be required to film. so I wouldn't be suprised if Lime Pictures still follow that set up

I still feel that if Lime Pictures wanted to keep Hannah they would have no matter what and offered her a new contract. As I have said, by making a statement it was of mutual consent and Deadwood regretting Hannah's decision to leave it would at least mean Hannah has a chance of getting more work. If it came out she was axed because they though she wasn't any good then that stigma would last for ages and Hannah would find it hard to find work again.

On the other hand, her CV might speak for itself. It will surely get noticed that Hannah did only the first series of a show that ran for three more runs (Kerching) and less than twelve months on a soap.

If that happens there is no hope for her.

Well she certainly isn't leaving because of the lack of a challenge. I think other HO actors could only envy her the acting opportunities she was given on HO, but I think it was too much for her.

We can all speculate as much as we like 'did she jump or was she pushed?' either scenario is likely but does it matter?

I just hope she does well in the future and I personally am sad to see her leave

One thing I have to ask, why would any soap take on an actress who made it clear from the outset she was only prepared to do a year? Surely a producer would not take kindly to hiring someone effectively dictating their own terms of employment like so, which could potentially restrict any development of the character they play?

I don't think that HO hired her only to give Clare somebody to kidnap. My guess is that they gave her a 1 year contract and then they had a talk that it would not be renewed. Audience response to Katy wasn't exactly positive.

That's exactly what the majority of people on this thread think. Lime Pictures would do well to remember the public is more media-savvy than given credit for.

Im really sad that hannah Tointon left as she was really good and as being katy new wat she was talking about and was such a cute caracter!!

I don't think she was pushed.
As I have said they usually give new cast members a short term contract. My impression is that the writers or Deadwood didn't think Hannah was working out as Katy and decide not to renew her contract.

Hannah isn't exactly going to be broadcasting she didn't have a contract renewed, since that sort of thing can damage a career.
Unlike Devon Anderson who deservedly got the sack for
