i cannot answer for every one but to me soulmates means many things and come in different forms but ultimately mean that the two are connected


Karmic soulmate – someone who has a special influence on one's life

Companion soulmate – People with whom one has made a connection.

Twin soulmates – Very close friends with whom one has strong bonds

wont bore you with the others lol

and then theres the romatic connotation to it packaging it all that your one part of the same soul, destined to want to be together

hence when i watched the fictional story to me John Paul and Craig are soulmates, its not all happiness and light, soulmate doesnt meant happy ever after,


*though for this story we would like it to be happy ever after as well. soulmates are meant to be together*


The character of Craig felt a connection for JP, he even said to Sarah he wished he'd never met John Paul because the connection was so strong that he wanted, needed John Paul

and as a character that scared him..

it took him a while to be honest about being in love with John Paul, the confussion making him do crazy thing and not admit what was adamant to all. as he said to Sarah "I love John Paul".

and as he said to his family "You cant help who you fall in love with".

JP was Craigs soulmate and for that very reason was why Craig fell for him in the first place (i truely believe it when Craig says its only John Paul and that he doesnt fancy other blokes) and despite fighting the connection the fact remained the two are connected,

Hence for me a happy ending seems to be the only fair ending. both want to be together, and hence both should be together, but finally mature enought to cope with the connection and both happy together

To me, it's not something Criag did or said that made him John Paul's soulmate or vice versa. It's much deeper than that. It's about having a connection with someone, regardless of gender or label, on a level many of us may not understand because the fact is many of us have yet to find our soulmates in our own lives.

I think from the moment they first met, Craig and John Paul felt a connection to each other. At that moment, they didn't realize what it was but soon after John Paul did and not too much later, Craig did.

In my view, these two characters are so lucky to have found each other when they did, at such a young age. In real life, some people never meet their soulmate, even though I believe all of us have one out there. As Maria said, I believe Craig when he said to his family, "It's only ever been John Paul" and when John Paul said to Mercedes, "He (Craig) is everything."

In my view, no one else will ever come close for either one of them because they were lucky enough to have already found each other.

In the end, I firmly believe they will be together and I'm quite sure we'll see Craig back on screen in the not too distant future. As Maria said, being with your soulmate doesn't automatically mean everything will be all roses and happiness. There will be rough roads for them long-term, no question. But what it does mean though, is that the underlying love and connection that they share will never go away, no matter how far apart they are from each other and no matter how much time has passed since they last saw one another no matter what obstacles life throws at them. That is what will get them through; They will have each other.

Thanks Maria. You are the first person that has tried to explain why they consider Craig and JP as soulmates without simply resorting to the mush of McDean fan-fiction.

I still don't agree though, because following your logic, Craig had reached the point of realisation where he would never have got on the plane to Dublin in the first place. He would have gone back to the village and fought for his man. Ok, I know in reality Guy was leaving the show, but it still blows a hole in the reality of the soulmate argument as most McDeaner's see it.

If they were really soulmates they would have had an inherent affinity with each other, but in truth they were rarely in tune with each other and misjudged the other's thoughts and motivations nearly every step of the way during their relationship, which was tempestuous at best.

In the end I do want a happy ending for JP. I just think Craig will need too much of a personality transplant to be able to provide him with one. Still, fair do's to you for explaining your POV. thanks

Guy leaving meant the story didn't end the way it should do and hence why the want for a sunset ending. The airport episode was wrong in so many levels. JP would not have laid down such a ultimatum on Craig and Craig would have accepted he was in love with a man. I believe that youth meant there not ready to deal with the connection (in a explanation other then Guy was leaving).

However the characters have been through so much, so it would be great for a SE, JP accepting how hard it was for Craig and Craig ready to stand by his soul mate.

its a ending that would complete the story.

I do like them both...I do believe JP and kieron do have feelings for eachother but not as strong feelings as JP and Craig had for each other...on that note it has to be McDean...

Actually James can act...you would know if you watched him on Dream team 80's or trial and retribution...and on dream team 80's he was a straight guy...so yeah he can do other stuff apart from a gay caracter...

It would be a very boring soap imo if no one had any love life so why should JP not have one? I can only think that JP has had main 3 relationships ( i think ) many of the girls on the show fall in love with whoever buys them a drink it seems lol
I much prefer JP/Kieron it seems they are more comfortable with their sexuality even if its not out in the open, everyone has a first love but does everyone actually end up with them?
