I don't take everything seriously, I was just saying because some people were still moaning, even though HO won 6 awards!

It got them ratings on Xmas because it was a brilliant episode, nothing to do with there being nothing on TV.

Max and Stacey was good but no way was it better than the two Hollyoaks storys.

I watched the max & stacey SL, is was nothing special all i kept thinking was 'as if Stacey would sleep with that gimp' the xmas epis were very good and the aftermath but NO WAY did it deserve to beat JPC or Hannahs story.

My thinking is that HO were winning too much and they had to share things out a little otherwise HO was in danger of sweeping the board.

I very much believe that if HO hadn't gotten both the best actor and best actress awards they WOULD have won best SL.

but then they would have only won 5 awards so in a way if that theory is true its good that they won the awards that they did

I totally agree with you that eastenders shouldnt have won that award, every couple in soapland has affairs nowadays, not very original! Hollyoaks always seem to go with the groundbreaking stuff like anorexia or lisas self harm. Dont think ive ever seen them been done in a soap before. Yet they never got recognised they way they should have done.

i think that ho need to advertise them selfs more as they dont do that much and when they hae a uge storyline coming up have a bit of a clip on an advert even in the late evenings so then more people wil know and tune in and then they might get all the otes they need for best soap as the ee fans will vote for ho

The Stacey/Max Affair won because of the acting and how ebveryone found out, they way they all found out wasn't original. Millions of epople enojoyed it, obvs more then Hannah's one and McDean one. The McDean was rubbish compared with Hannah's and the Stacey/Max one, as them two were better acted out.

Having watched the Max/Stacey affair reveal on YT, I thought it was actually extremely similar to Hollyoaks. Both happened on big occasions [EE - Christmas :: Oaks - Engagement], both had the families involved rather than just the mains.

And actually, the way everyone found out about McDean wasn't natural. I can't say I've ever been to an engagment party where the groom to be has been caught - by his fiancee! - in bed with his gay best friend. It could just be me that's never happened to, of course......

i mentioned it before, Chris is a great actor but eventually got recognised when Chris was on DOI. I dont thin DOI takes anything away from Chris it just brings him into the public eye.

similary to OB and Max they became known as a partnership as a result of Gemma story and then Summers..

PR is important no matter what...

additionally dont forget EastEnders has been going for years and years its past on generation to generation. Hollyoaks is only starting to get the family viewing and you have to remember it is predominantly a teen/young adult show.. thats its target audiance.

The serious stories in HO get recognised by those who know what it means. Mcdean at the slatewell awards and Hannah annorexia storyline made it into the new i believe.

There has never been any deliberate publiciy apart from the Summer story..

Everyone found out by watching a DVD, how was it the same as the HO McDean one?

Their faces when watching the DVD was brilliant, so well acted, you felt ackward just watching them watch it.

If you read what I put properly, you'll see the reasons why I said they were similar.

Oh right, well either way it was better how they found out when everyone was together, it made it more interesting and exicting to watch, would of been boring if only 1 peson found out and thn went and told Bradley or Tanya.

Maybe so. But that was the way Hollyoaks did things. And if I recall correctly, the majority of viewers praised the episode after they watched it. People prefer different things, You prefer the way EE did it, I prefer the way oaks did it. Others will also have their own opinions. It'd be very boring if we all agreed.

This was a bit baffling to me as well. I'm not a massive EE fan - but it is probably the second best soap behind HO. Granted the acting was very good - but the STORYLINE was unimaginative and horribly drawn out, and put me off watching the show for quite a bit. The two HO storylines both had a great deal more merit.

Yeah, the acting in The Affair storyline was very good, but the storyline was unoriginal. And yeah, the way everyone found out was different and original, wow.

But the anorexia storyline was much better.
