How did you take the scene yesterday when JP went to confession and told confessed all to Kieron?
Do you think it was a fantasy concocted in Kieron's head? Or do you think it really happened?
Tis bugging me. I don't know. At first I thought it was real but now I don't know. Think my McDean status is wanting to perceive the scene a certain way. Hence why I ask this question to those who aren't really bothered about either pairing. What is your take on the situation?

It looked like it could be either way on watching it but in most of the spoilers it did say JP makes one last attempt so that makes me think it did actually happen

Im a McDeaner but it quite obviously really happened, I dont know why anyone is kidding themselves. It's no big deal to me, he doesnt have to be single.

I don't imagine him to be single forever. I just don't understand this new affair when the whole point he split up with Craig was because he didn't want to be his dirty little secret anymore and wanted them to open and in public. A priest is even worse than a man who is dealing with his sexuality, as there is no way they can ever be open and in public. And he's kind of going against what he said to Hannah/Kieron a month ago saying he wasn't in love with the latter because he hardly knew him. I also don't get the chemistry or the way the character has suddenly changed. He said 'if I promise not to upset you...' or something along those lines, 'can we try.' JP sounds like he is just so desperate to be with Kieron when he hardly knows him and will do anything to keep him. He was in love with Craig for a considerably longer time and told him where to go on the odd occasion when he didn't like the way he was being treated. To say that he will do anything and put up with certain things sounds like he's had a sudden character transplant.
I'd rather they brought Spike back or got him together with Kris.

I agree with you, I would rather see JP with Spike than Keiron. Although I love McDean, I quite liked Spike so I wouldn't mind him coming back.
Anyway, I personly think that the sceen where JP went to confession was real.

am not sure but which ever it was its not a big deal.. its not mcdean which tackled a topic that was important to teenagers and young adults brilliantly but we are where we are ... ah well
The class of SE 2008 Mc-dean came home, that it did
At the time I watched it, I thought it happened but was swayed enough by comments on the forums to wonder if I'd got it wrong. I rewatched it but still couldn't make my mind up so I asked three different friends for their opinions and they all said they believed it really happened. To be honest, it makes more sense within the story for it to have been real - although I can see why McDeaner might want it to be a fantasy.
Well, I’m a McDeaner but I love Kieron and I'm enjoying watching McPriest, I just see it as a tragic story, not a love story.
I am in no doubt the scene was a fantasy. I thought so from the moment I saw it, I posted about it on JSF less than five minutes after the episode aired and I was then shocked to see how many people were taking it seriously! I’ve watched the scene dozens of times since to check I wasn’t going mad but each re-watch just makes me even more certain it was a fantasy.
I don’t think the editing leaves much room for ambiguity, to be honest. John Paul would have to move at superspeed to get out of the confessional that quickly, plus there is no sound. He disappears like a ghost. Just before, Kieron looks like he’s about to say something then he gets this look of realisation on his face and it’s revealed the confessional is empty. As it has been all along.
The scene outside the pub doesn’t make sense if the confessional was real. Why don’t either of them acknowledge it? You’d think it would be a pretty big thing that Kieron would at least say thank you for. But no, John Paul is downcast, not at all hopeful like you might expect him to be if he'd just 'confessed' his true feelings and Kieron had come after him. He’s not acting like a man who's just bared his soul. Kieron, on the other hand, is acting like a man who's just had an epiphany. John Paul says, "Hard day at the office?" without a hint of irony and Kieron smiles to himself - and only to himself - and says, "Like you wouldn't believe." No, I'm sure he wouldn't believe it!
Plus, it’s just out of character for John Paul to do that! He’d be more likely to go storming into the vestry!
Everything after the scene in the living room was about Kieron and his choices. He even says, “This isn't about you. This is my life, these are my choices, and I don't need your approval to make my next move." And that's exactly what the following scenes are about - Kieron making those choices - and making them on his own. The whole thing was an insight into his mind and I personally thought it was a brilliant scene!
Probably the most telling thing of all is that the confessional comes directly after we've seen Kieron imagining himself naked in front of the mirror which clues us in to his state of mind. In fact, Kieron naked segues directly into John Paul in the confessional - from one fantasy to another.

I actually completely agree, it doesnt make much sense given all that's come before however I still think it really happened, I dont think JP should sit and be single until (or if_ the day ever comes for the SE.
I like the character of Kieron but I dont like the storyline much, the fact that he's gay is a fantastic aspect however I dont approve of the fact he's so willing to break his vows, he's a preist!!!
I guess the main difference and what JP is responding to is the fact that Kieron makes him feel like he wants him all the time, whereas Craig was so confused and messed up alot of the time JP felt rejected and that he was ashamed of him, which is why he walked away from him, cause Craig just wasnt comfortable with it all yet. Kieron is. I'll always love McDean but I want JP to get good storylines in Craig's absince.

My first reaction was that it was real so I'm gonna go with that and even though I love McDean I hope its real because at last JP seemed to take some responsibility for leaving Craig at the airport.
