Ugh I agree! So they axed Dannii, Andy, Cameron (not out yet but soon), Sam (again leaving soon) and although it pains me to say this but even Darlene for Amy, Michaela, Ste, Wayne, Josh and Fletch! Where the hell is the sense in that?! Okay I know that more often than not actors leave a show rather than get fired but the producers could've made a bit more effort getting some edgy, interesting, cool and actually good looking people in to replace them instead of that miserable lot!
I would have though you had worked all this dumbing down out.
Mersey TV only has a few more years left to make Grange Hill and ruomours are and one of the reasons the BBC stopped making it themselves is because they wanted to axe the series. Hence Mersey TV making it now and the different time slot it has from what it use to have.
Phil Redmond was reportedly not happy that Channel 4 axed Brookside when he was still in charge and was rumoured to have even thought about stop making it for Channel 4 and offer it to the BBC instead.
It wouldn't be suprising if his legacy was to dumb down Hollyoaks so much it was at a level of Grange Hill, then get Channel 4 to axe the series for him and then offer it to the BBC as an ideal replacement for Grange Hill, already Scousified so that the change of accents from London Kids to Scouse Kids didn't care.

Rubbish, They have always had school kids in Hollyoaks... Max, OB, Zara, Mandy, Chloe,Lisa, yep Lee its not all about college kids its a mix between older and younger story lines, to appeal to greater spectrum. I might not enjoy the kids but they are just spinning same thing with different actors.
i think that its gud that hollyoaks has a wide age range because it enables them to appeal to a wider audience!! what time and day is grange hill on??!!

I do know they have always had schoolkids in Hollyoaks as I have been watching from the start. My point is they are now over using them where as before they only had a short storyline or brief appearance. Max for instance never really came into his own as a proper character until 1998/99 despite being one of the early characters in 1995. Now they are even giving a major storyline to a schoolkid in Justin, and have given him major storylines for over a year now. Also there are far more schoolkids than there ever were before. Even with Lee and Co you only had 7. Now you have Hannah, Josh, Fletch, Nicole, Nancy, Sarah, Amy, Ste, Michaela, her Chav boyfriend and Justin. That is a large chunk of the cast, yet you have far less students. It's no wonder Hollyoaks is no longer in the top 30 Channel 4 programmes as it's being dumbed down to the level of a childrens show.

I don't see anything wrong in giving the school kids some storylines. At the end of the day they have issues to deal with like anyone else and that's what the show is putting across.
Yes one of the major storylines iis involving 'schoolkid' justin, but it's a great storyline. And Justin is a great character. He's had some big storylines of the past year or so because of the fact that they work and they have a reason. And the character has changed so much over time that it only makes sense for his stories to keep evolving.

they were a totally different show back then, ie: they didnt air 5 evenings a week and the characters were less, they are filling 30 minute slots 5 nights a weeks plus plenty of late night episodes, and given you are a lot older now than you were when you started watching it have you thought for a second that this might be another problem you are having with it? Hollyoaks loses its comfort zone, because they lost a huge lot of characters that were in the show for a long time. Zara, Lee, Bombhead, Dannii, Cameron is leaving, Ali and his sister and dad left, everywhere you look there are new and young actors making storylines for themselves. Corrie has the webster family etc .. and chesney, and platt kids making stories for themselves but have a mix with older members of the cast maybe you are just growing out of hollyoaks.
I disagree aswell to be honest! The problem amy is having is very common nowadays its only right that hollyoaks being the soap it is shows the issue in some way! My opinion though is that your still living in the past when it comes to the show! things change, people move on! simple as that, i personally think hollyoaks is still a great show!

i agree with ya....
i thimnk hollyoaks appeal 2 a younger audience so they have to have storylines which appeal 2 us.
