Who is and is not an artist. Look at a toilet and put it in a bathroom and its been "designed" to do a job. But put a toilet in a gellery then it becomes "Art". My personals feelings that art is not so much to do with the name of the artest, but how there Art effects you and make you feel.
Some Art I hate, but I call it Art because it has effected me. Some Art I like because it takes me to another place.

Art used to be a picture or something but now it seems it can be any old rubbish. I think the reason people try to justify an unmade bed etc. as art is because they are not skilled enough to draw a proper picture.
To me Art is work like Constable, Turner, Monet etc did. Where time and skill produces visual pleasing paintings or sculptures. Anything else is just home decoration or what I call sheep art (meaning, you have to like it because it's IN to like it, like fashion. Top designers tell you what sheep have to wear each year).
You should see some of the crap we have come across in our "Art Experience" as part of the Big Art project! I'm hoping they won't edit out my reaction to this tosh that passes for "modern art".
Thought I'd go somewhere quiet for a meditate. You are not really Scottish- you are American, cos you can't spell 'programme'. Had a look round whist I was here and anyone knows the difference between a painting and a sculpture. A sculpture is something you knock over in a gallery when you are stepping back to admire a painting. Can you make it to Kingston?
why do people put everything 'modern art' into one category and say how they hate all of it?? have you actually taken the time to look at it and it's meanings? it may be new and very different but give it a chance

Don’t be daft… these artistic types would think a framed dog turd had a meaning if somebody put it in a context including phrases like ‘post-modern’ or something.
well this guy edge he is so cool he is a gafitey artest and he is so cool he did this canvas for us and well its an E as an angre face but evey1 els sees difrent things like a swan or a bird feeding its litle baby or a reflecion of a person in the water its so cool you can make it what ever u see its sopos to be an E as an angre face but u can see what u want from it i have learn some thing about art from that canvas u can make it wat ever u want it to be
I think it probably is called art if you are called Julian and go to wine bars proudly displaying single coloured squares in down lit frameless picture frames. I mean if an old shed or a tent with scribble all over it can be called art then a mirror will walk it.
^^ art is a very cool thing i think so dont dis it ok !! spray painting a car is art witch i think is cool ! and u could call my maltesers wraper art to ! well it is coz it just is !
