Alread broke it to my son about the ps3 or wii. He's on his own there. So he hit me with an x-mas subscription from Gamefly. Seems this company as well as having "all games" also provides gift certificates along with x-mas specials on sign-ups. Trust me I got the full scoop.
Anyway. Didn't expect a gaming section at this board. And since I'm waiting around for some advice on kitchen tile, thought I'd ask about this company.
It seems like a pretty good deal actually. Seeing the price of games these days.

From what I know from my son and their website, their a online company set up on the Netflix model. They rent video games instead of movies.
I'm not certain how it works exactly, but you sign up and pay a set amount (they have different plans) and then you rent whatever games you want and send them back when you're finished with them. No late fees, etc.
I did a little math and essentially at today's game prices, a year's subscription would cost about the equivalent of 4 games. He knows he's got me, cause at the rate he plays, it would actually save me money (he tries his best, but I buy most of the games in the house.)
So my interest is peaked. Beyond buying the subscription, I wouldn't have to get involved.
Already took the plunge. When I didn't get a response here I checked around on a few other sites and while the reviews were mixed most people seemed to think this a burgeoning industry with gamefly leading the pack in selection, cs, and overall value. So, I bought a six month gift certificate. 2-game plan. Hope it works out. I know either way he'll be thrilled.
Will check back and update you on how it works. Thanks.
