I'm a girl, and I love playing video games. Admittedly, my life doesn't revolve around them, but still, I really like to play them. I think it's quite sexist and stereotypical to say that games don't appeal to girls. Does anyone else agree, or am I the only girl who comes onto this forum?

Yeah, I agree with that, I think that video games should be played by everyone, if they choose to play that is. Actually, I know quite a lot of girl gamers around where I live.
While there's no denying there are girl gamers, I think it's that they are seen as such a 'minority' that they are dis-counted. It's a shame and a dumb way of doing business I know, and it's not helped by most games being seemingly aimed at men by featuring a macho male hero with big guns.
Out of interest, what games do you play, MeAndMac?
I wish my girlfriend was a gamer! I even bought an Eye-Toy in the hope that something different & quirky would encourage her to have a go...but alas!
Old geeks don't die, we just incur a fatal exception!
Im a girl, and im not ashamed to say that i do play games. And i know i like them, theres nothing wrong with that. In the society they think girls=makeup, shopping boys=football, booze. Thats definatly not true! It depends on the personality of the indivdual not the way the whole world thinks they should be!

Personally, I don't think it would make any difference what-so-ever lol. After all, it is the games that should attract people, not what colour the console is.

Girls get influenced on which colour suits the sexes. In this case pink or blue but the DS or PSP has to be pretty to look attractive for the buyer to say "hey, that looks cool!"

Yeah, I see what you mean. It's like you said before though, about how males and females are thought of in society. I'm a 16 year old male, and im not ashamed to say that I like to read books and actually like to have intellectual conversations.

Yeah and who says you cant do all those things? No one.( Well probaly your mum!) An individual has their own decisions and opinions in which they can express in any way shape or form. In this case gaming, it dosnt have to be just for buys. Game manufaturers have done their best to appeal to both sexes. Theres games like Sims , Animal crossing, Nintendogs and Peach *cough* and i do have themm ALL...well not sims cause i dont like Sims. See theres lots of games that appeal to girls but that side is lopp-sided cause its based at one angle. Just girly animal rubbish. Boys games, well theres plenty i got to admit! Theres FIFA world cup, Residentail Evil, Tekam. Based on sports and blood shed. See how lopp-sided both is? I play a bit of both cause i got 2 brothers and they got the PS2 and Gamecube, and they dont mind if i watch them play them games and if i play them.

Yeah, game producers do not really realise that anybody might want to play any type of game.
