Glad to see young people are still thoughtful, articulate and full of insight.... (and that's just the ones on this forum).
I hope I never screw things up with my 9 year old daughter so much that she ends up like one of these girls. OK, teenage is a time for rebellion, finding out who you are and so on. I've no problems with clothes and piercings, but the attitude and cruelty was shocking. I wonder how their parents have behaved towards them? Is this sort of behaviour learned?
As for drugs, well, I did them occasionally at that age (actually more like 17-19) and as far as I know they 'never did me any harm', but these girls seriously needed drying out, bringing down, and starting from scratch to work out who they really are. Not sure this sort of TV isn't getting purely sensational and exploitative though...
For any parent to send their child to Brat camp it really is the last resort. I hope you never have to experience the problems these parents have all been through. These parents all have other children who are well behaved, polite and are doing well in all areas of the lifes. These children had much deeper problems.
Do you think at the age of 9 they were any different from your own daughter.
Loving Brat Camp! Think the ones who moved on from "Mouse" were at least bright enough to realise that the sooner they complied (hope that's the right word!) with the rules the quicker they could move on! Georgie is funny though! Anyway...can't wait for next week's episode! C_P. xox
Don't watch the show much-it would make me foam at the mouth.I think of the Boot Camp boarding schools-to me,those behind WWASP are evil.I wish all the girls the best-I read the feature on Rose in the Times.May I say,as an exvictim of bullying myself, that her year head should have been fired? In my view-the kids at That'll Teach 'em can leave at will. The same should apply to those at Brat Camp. And I found the mothers featured in the Mail rather cold.A 9pm curfew is indefensible. My rules for any kids of mine?No bullying,no cruelty to animals.Otherwise-you don't bug me,I won't bug you.
A 9pm curfew is completely defensible - responsible parents should ensure their children are safe. That includes them not wandering around in the dark. Furthermore, kids need their sleep if they're going to be able to study at school.
Perhaps if the parents of these girls had enforced some rules, their daughters wouldn't have been getting in to drugs, stealing, twoc-ing and assault. Just a thought.
A laissez-faire attitude from parents is not good enough.
Maybe if you did watch the show more you'd have been able to see the torment and stress that those parents have been through, and far from being cold, they the fact they had to go to that extreme only shows how much they care.Do you actually have any teenagers ???
