That's as good an argument for Beckhams inclusion as any other.

If England win with ease against France (switz is not really a test) and Becks is not playing do u think the fans will care about it.

When Fabio was at Real last season he dropped becks, sold Ronaldo and started playinh/doing this his way and people (myself included) said he was wrong and it would never work, who won the title ?.

Fabio has been there done that and he want to c (like at Madrid) if Beckham and the other big name players (who will pay attention now) has what it takes to play for the TEAM and not for the fame

A lot of 'big name' players have had it too easy under previous England managers. About time someone has come in and shaken things up

He did bring Beckham back into the side though.

One thing I like is that he seems to be forcing them to take the under 21's more seriously with the new additions there. Have potentially good U21 players actually play for the U21s and gain valuable experience rather than leapfrog everyone straight into the main squad whilst playing 25 year old players like Bentley in there instead of the youth that should be there.

Looks like Benley will be finally given a go in a friendly. Pity we cant glean any info out of the Gerrard Lampard saga as Lampard is injured..

Would you pick Bentley? Not sure I would, not just yet, anyway.

Yeah, I'd like to see what Capello would do with the Lampard/Gerrard situation too

Gerrard v Lamps

IMO no competition - and that has no bearing on which domestic club i support - Gerrard along with Barry or Owen Hargreaves

Barry impressed me bigtime

I also believe gerrard should be captain on a permanent basis, a captain has to behave off the pitch aswell as on it, enough said Big Grin

Yes I would give Bentley a go in a friendly. He deserves a chance I mean he is 24 and they were still wanting him to play in the U21's I mean how much longer do you leave it?

At the moment I prefer him to SWP and think that Lennon is still a bit raw and would benefit from U21 games more.

Thats a good point Roni about the captains behaviour off the pitch. I dont think Terry is a good choice with the antics in nightclubs and drinking.

Was funny this weekend seeing a picture of SWP and a bottle of jack daniels stuffed down his trousers outside a knightclub story alongside Fabregas guiltily confessing a liking to Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

I do think English players need to be more professional and that starts at the top with the captain.

Well, Roni, I think you should go to the redtops and tell them as they are already sharpening their knives by having 2 reporters at Madame Tussauds standing next to Beckham's waxwork with placards urging Beckham's inclusion. How cringeworthy was that?

As long as it takes to sort out his committment to his country. If he doesn't want to help his mates out in a big tournament, then leave him put for a long time. At least another couple of years I say. Let him see players who have, in his opinion, equal ability as him getting in the side after playing as many games in a season as him going to tournaments and getting the glory and then see if he wants to play. If he does, give him another year and then consider him.

That's how strongly I feel about players backing out of these things

Commitment to his country? You mean play in the U21's till you get the dubious "honour" of the next most picked mug title now held by Milner and more recently Carragher. That will really also send the message to his "team mates" that yep you are a bunch of mugs who will never make it hahahahaha.

If the England setup doesnt treat the U21's seriously then why should the players. Being picked more than 10 times for them for England normally means you are never going to make the main squad.

In two years he will be 26 , giving a promissing a debut at 26 would just about sum up the state of the England setup.

Thats how strongly I feel about the idiots that run the game at international level or did till just recently. I am hoping things will change.

I know what you mean Capt, but he should still have gone. Being picked for your country is an honour, no matter what level you're at. Not picking and choosing when he will play

Some good attacking play by Bentley,Cole and Rooney

Very typical English style sort of winner with the flick on by Crouch and so on.

I think 1st half was poor - 2nd much better

however for me i didnt think rooney playing up front on his own worked, he is an awesome talent and needs assistance, the midfield was heavily congested and in first half gerrard was even much deeper then he should have been, this is fabios fault though, next time play 4-4-2

also i would like to see him pick a team that he thinks can bring success and work with them, not sure that chopping and changing every 5mins will work either.

Lets make a team of winners fabio Thumbs Up

Hes not playing for success at the moment Roni just seeing how players cope etc so that means giving more than 11 a chance and substitutions.

We have to learn to deal with a congested midfield and with more talented players too . Lumping the ball over the top of it wont work normally (slightly disappointing that we did actually revert to that and succeeded in a goal because it makes them think it will work in a top game). This is where it starts.

I agree though I dont think Rooney is great on his own but I think he did that so we could concentrate on our midfield play and he did much better behind crouch....well I think anyway.
