Does anyone think that macedonia could be a banana skin for engerland??

they played well against a mediocre squad, just like scotland with the faroes!!

i'm askin because i think scotland may have a tough game tomorrow too, and its the teams like the wee guys we should be humping, 3,4 or 5 - nil........

Svens first game was 6-0. So im not going overboard yet. We have started well and there really are no easy games anymore. The same commentators and reporters that look for the FA cup upsets assume easy victory in internationals.

I had lots of confidence in Sven. As a hardened Middlesbrough fan, I have less in Stevie baby.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves, he hasn't faced any major challenge yet.

Mind, Macedonia are a big step up from Andorra. My prediction - England 2-0 Macedonia.

There are easy games if the big nations turn up in the right frame of mind. Holland only beating Luxembourg 1-0 was a surprise, but how did the Dutch approach it. If the big nations approach the game positively, then Andorra, Liechtenstein, San Marino, Luxembourg and the like are easy games and could run into double figures

Cheers Andy, I was trying to make the point that they dont happen often so not to expect England to do them of all teams. Then Germany did that Big Grin.

I wonder if Hansen and all still think Germany are a poor team.

Yeah, I wonder. After the World Cup, you'd hope he's revised that train of thought.

But I disagree that countries like San Marino, Luxembourg, Liectenstein, etc should be made to pre-qualify. What happened to the equality of cup competitions, because that is essentially what it is.

I say this with a hint of bias as I have a very soft spot for Luxembourg, as I have family there and always look out for their results. Nice one v Holland the other day, only lost 1-0

But cup competitions are not equal Andy, just look at the FA Cup with tiny clubs having to rightly pre-qualify then you get the league clubs and finally in the 3rd round the Premiership clubs.
I think in the leeast there should be a consensus whereby when team perform really badly on a regular basis, then they are somehow eliminated from the next competition. I mean San Marino were always rubbish so its a waste of time playing them time and again when the result is so predictable.
Andorra were so hopeless I stopped watching 15min into the England match and turned over to the cricket Big Grin

Pre-Qualification for the likes of Andorra and San Marino would mean at least we would have the best of the cr@p teams and not the lot of them.
