Great shout. He's been pretty average whenever I've seen him play. He claimed to deperately want to play for Arsenal, then I was shocked to see that he had the audacity to criticise Wenger in the summer, when he spent his first season on the treatment table.

I couldn't believe that either. I know which guy I'd rely on in a crisis and he isn't French.

Its more to do with Gilbertos age, he is over 30 which to Wenger is one foot in the grave. I never seem to agree with Wengers captaincy choices.

Biggest flop? After watching last night's Everton game, Yakubu. what a lazy piece of work he is. £11.5m? Put me up front, I'd work harder than him

I think our hoof-ball tactics made Yakubu look worse than he was last night - when Anichebe came on he turned it around but then he is a target man - Yakubu is not. It's a common mistake people make because of his physique but it's wrong, at Boro, Viduka was the man who would play with his back to goal and hold up the ball. Yakubu is not a player with an exhaustive workrate like Andy Johnson, he is though, a clinical finisher - give him decent service and he guarantees goals. His records speaks for itself.

One thing I couldnt work out was why the commentator was calling Anichebe Anchovy or was it just my hearing.

You were right - worst of all, it was Goodison legend Kevin Ratcliffe doing the commentary! He was calling Jagielka - JU JELL CAR as well for some reason.

The Yak does tend to stop scoring when the Xmas decorations come down though, as his record probably tells you (don't have it to hand, but I recall a Boro fan saying something along those lines, CT where are you????)

Sorry that came out all wrong. I never criticise typos Smile I meant that the Yak hasn't performed for a while now. I can't believe that we got 11.5 for him. If only we had done something constructive because TBH his replacements are no better.

Since making this thread I notice Anderson has been playing much better.

My new nominee would be Eduardo of Arsenal. There was a lot of hype about him being this clinical finisher and all, and I know he's been injured but it seems that Wenger doesn't fancy him in his XI.

Don't worry Gooners, me saying this will probably now lead to a scoring spree Wink

I dont see how you can pick him out. It takes time to get used to the premiership and as you say he has been injured. It seems from outside of Arsenal that he was the replacement for Henry. He wasnt.

My original choice Gallas is now back but I wont change it till he has played more than a couple of games.

I think he arrived around the time Henry left which gave the impression that he was going to be a definate starter the anti-Henry if you like. The guy who waon't mess around and will shoot at sight. This is the type of thing I heard from Gooners myself. You are correct it will take him a while to settle, though in that time he might find himself way down the pecking order behind RVP, Adebayor, Walcott et al.

Well I dont know which Gooners you were talking to but they were repeating the words of the idiots in the press who were comparing him to Henry and tipping us to finish mid table. Nobody I know had him down as a starter a lot of them were wanting Bendtner to be given a shot in fact a lot of them still do.

He will have to improve to get into the team that is for sure but we also need 4 good strikers as well especially now RVP is out for at least 6 weeks.

Do you envisage Walcott to be a proper Number 9 now and no longer a wideman? As I think RVP behind Walcott would be a perfect partnership. I know I continue to say this but I just don't rate Adebayor as a consistant top class performer. He's either very good or very poor.
