think be better for england with rooney lampard neville beckham all on bench

be very interesting when Waynes fit again, would be amazing to see him only on the bench, but how can you split up Heskey and Owen at the moment, chances are Owen will be injured by then again though!!!
Lampard should not get near the team, Barry has been awesome and Gerrard is far better when he can do what he likes instead of covering for Lampard by staying back, Lampard should now only be used if Gerrard cant play, and if Barrys not fit then stick Hargreaves in so Gerrard can still move forward

Agree with the above, England seem better balanced without Fat Frank.

In a 4-4-2 formation then Lamps cant play but if the formation was say 4-3-3 then i think him and Stevie G could play 2gether.

He wouldn't be the first player to play better for his club than his country though. Perhaps it's the pressure on him from his employers to perform and justify his £100k a week wages, what pressure is there on him to do that for England? There doesn't seem to be as much pride in playing for England as there used to be. I'm sure Adams, Butcher, Robson, Shearer and many, many others must be shuddering at this seeming indifference to the country's shirt

I've been saying it for years - Lampard is a pub standard player. I've been hoping for years that he moves to La Liga as rumoured and gets shown up for the useless lump that he is. Put him in an ailing Premiership club stripped of the riches around him and you'll see how bad he is. It's no surpise that England look a better outfit without him. Can't pass. Can't tackle but guaranteed 15 goals a season (10 deflected, 5 pens) by virtue of the players around him.

Might want to have a look at what I thought might be an option for Rooney in the 'Here We Go Again' thread... But I have to pull you up on "if Barrys not fit then stick Hargreaves in" Like Hargreaves is ever fit and Barry isn't!

If England have won the last 2 games 3-0 and have played better than they have done for a long time, doesn't that say something about not splitting up a winning team, that certain players have been underperforming, certain players have been taking their places in the side for granted, etc, etc, etc...? Perhaps it really is time for a re-think of the starting XI

I think that's who everyone wants to see, but injuries have prevented that from happening too much so far

After the recent results, I can't see any reason to change any players...

Isn't it sad that it's taken some injuries to make successive England managers realise that Lampard & Gerrard do not work well together. Saying that, I do believe that Lampard gets too much stick & is made a scapegoat too often.

I know, especially when it's quite clearly all McClaren's fault isn't it? ----------------------------- Manchester United Double Winners 2007/2008

And the inability to listen to public opinion, to see for their own eyes it wasn't working and the lack of courage to drop Lampard (as he's clearly the inferior of the 2 players) may have contributed to this also
