I don't get why fans attack players for kissing the badge and then leaving the club.
Lets break it down. I'm a forward, I've just scored a goal, I feel really really jubilant, the fans behind the goal are going crazy I want to show that the goal was for them but I'm not allowed into the crowd so from afar I kiss the badge and show my love.
Now here's the problem, fans see this as a gesture of undying love and say 'Hey he's one of us, he loves us, we love him, he'l never leave'! Valentine
But here's the analogy.
I kiss my girl after scoring (with her Wink)
BUT this in no way means that I wish to spend the rest of my life with her or indeed even that I love her Big Grin It just means that FOR NOW I like her very very much. Now if I we were to end our relationship the following week, it would be absurd for her to turn around and say 'hey but you kissed me you ******!'
So similarly when a player kisses the badge it just means that he likes where he is right now and is happy to have scored a goal, nothing more nothing less, lets stop getting so emotional about this issue and engage in some Machiavellian thinking coz the guy wern't wrong.

Never looked at it that way but I think you are right...it's the modern day equivalent of running into the crowd...

Surely a football club is more important than any bird? Wink

hmm ok but i doubt anything said against a player kissing the badge could be worse than what an ex girlfriend thinks of a fella Ninja

Also there are a very low number of players that go around pointedly kissing the clubs badge.

This first came into my head when I saw Shevchenko kissing the badge in the Charity Shield. Here's a player who has spent a number of great years with Milan, probably will claim that he loved the club. But on his first game for Chelsea kisses the badge. Then thinking about it I feel he just wanted to show a connection with the Chelsea fans and there's nothing wrong with that. The problem would arise when say he left in a year or 2 and fans turned around and ranted on about disloyalty etc.
