Bit miffed with Wenger really, dont normally criticise him but if you are paying lip service to the young team media bandwagon then stick to your guns dont go the halfway house of sneaking in a handful of first team players to make sure we still have a chance. Either play the youngsters for the experience like we did in the final last year against Chelsea or play a strong squad, just think he undermined their confidence though I know a lot of the changes were due to injuruy and Song going to the ACoN.

YES, It's great that little white hart lane's 30k faithful get something to cheer at least once every nine years. Sir Arsene's third choice keeper had a Paul Robinsonesque nightmare fluffing almost every Spurs shot on target, says it all really. I don't think Man-U will be so generous neighbour at the weeekend.
I think those stats suggest the 5-1 scoreline flattered Spurs a bit or that the best team didn't win even.If Sir Arsene puts out his third choice keeper,such a keystone factor in any team, this suggest his heart wasn't 100% in winning the m.mouse cup.

BTW, I will admit, if pushed, I have a soft spot for Tottenham. I've been to many north London derby games, my first being in the early 80's and everything seems a lot tamer now. The games in the 80's were ferocious affairs, both on and off the pitch. But now it all seems a touch, erm.... sane

Just making the point that the scoreline doesn't always accurately reflect the play in football. Spurs certainly hit the target more frequently...with missiles from the stands thrown by their notorious fans, will this be investigated?
From a neutral's point of view, anything that losens the stranglehold on the English football that the big four have, is a good thing. Good luck Everton. (Not something I've said very often over the years!)

Last night a plucky young team of Arsenal up and comers were desperately unlucky to lose narrowly to a vastly more experienced Tottenham side, despite being so much better. And less experienced. The game saw Arsene Wenger stay true to his word, as he persisted with his ‘reserves and youth only’ policy in the Carling Cup. The match saw rare outings for Arsenal reserve players Gallas, Sagna, Hleb, Fabregas, Eduardo and Adebayor, many of whom some Arsenal fans had never even heard of. This team of unknowns therefore rubbished claims that Wenger would directly go against his pre-match team speculations by playing established first team players in an attempt to desperately cling on to a chance at cup glory.
Glorious and ever-triumphant leader Arsene Wenger (Hasn’t challenged for Premier League title in 3 seasons, including 2 consecutive narrow 4th place finishes in 2005/2006 and 2006/2007) also persisted with his admirable policy of blooding youth payers in the Carling Cup, despite claims before the match that only a small portion of the side could genuinely be called ‘youthful’. Current youth team players Gallas (30), Sagna (24), World Cup winning Gilberto (31), Hleb (26) and Eduardo (24) took to the field in an Arsenal team that simply had no hope of victory yet bravely went on despite their inexperience (Eduardo - 21 full International Caps for Croatia).
This team of home-grown youngsters such as Walcott (Fee £12 million, 30 games 3 goals, none in Premiership), Denilson (poached for £3.4 million from the London suburb of Brazil) put in an admirable display. To only lose 5-1 is an outstanding performance and the best is yet to come!

Nevertheless I do believe that the idea is to score more goals than the opponents. Who knows? maybe one day they will have judges awarding extra points for style, possession, and giving team mates a Hartlepool kiss.
I remember back in 87 the titanic 330 minute Arsenal v Spurs league cup semi (immortalised in Nick Hornby's fever pitch) when a young Arsenal side overcame Spurs in extra time to go on and beat Liverpool at Wembley. Spurs reached the FAcup final that season and we listened on the telly as they all sang (to the tune of the current at that time BA advert) this is the cup to win Arse-enal Arse-enal..... and they lost.
Wenger has been great for Arsenal but I think he should take the League cup more seriously and not just use it to blood youngsters.

Only a Cardiff fan would not have a problem with the fans joining in throwing missiles, this isn't the first time, far from it.
