As I see it from a neutral point of view, and with no real feelings for Boro one way or the other, they look destined for a real scrap this season. I know, GJ, you say Cattermole as he's a local lad with feelings for the club, but do you not think this can cloud a supporters judgement of a player?
I say this because we were talking about this very subject after a game a few weeks back. Because they're local lads, you feel an affinity towards them. we had a good batch come through down here from our Academy, about 7 or 8, and only 2 have escaped being loaned out and then sold on. we expressed some surprise, but then, when we really got down to it, the manager and coaching staff can see more of a players ability than the average fan. Because he gives 100%, his future isn't always guaranteed at the club he loves. A sad but true fact of life.
I haven't really seen anything of Cattermole, so I won't comment on his specific case, but I feel that clubs, young players and supporters, up and down the country go through this every season
