surely none bettr than schmeichel £250,000, though Babbel, McAllister and Litmanen on free's were great for us (how we all wish Houllier had played Litmanen more)

crouch is a muff.

tore andre flo 12m for rangers is the worst piece of business i've ever seen.

henrik larsson 650k for celtic is the bargain of a lifetime personally speaking in todays market.

He can do a job. But if its goals you're after he's probably not your man! He doesn't seem to jump for high balls which means players of 5 feet 8 inches are competing with him in the air.

He doesn't need to jump, he's THAT tall.

Your missing my point! If he's not getting his head to the ball and some guy 8 inches shorter is, then he clearly does need to JUMP! His main talent as a footballer (if you can call it that) is his height. If he's not using that to best advantage then he's never going to fulfil his potential. Presumably, winning the ball in the air is the main reason that he would be chosen in any team. Sven clearly stated this after the England/Austria game.

Some years before Crouch signed for the Villa, we had Ian Ormondroyd, at 6' 4 1/2". When we signed him, Graham Taylor told everyone to ignore his height as he's not a very good header of the ball. Again, he could not jump and I remember seeing him losing headers to David Speedie. There is definitely something behind blokes who are that tall, who've probably never had to jump from junior upwards.

I too think Crouch is a bemused giraffe (or is that just gaffe??) on the football pitch. If you're looking for any further evidence of my loathing 4 the man, it's all in my post in reply to "Who would you rather see up front for England??". Surprisingly enough, it ain't Mr Lighthouse Family Big Grin Ninja Wink Eek Mad Tree
