Good. Now hopefully he'll set his sights on his real life goal of selling burgers and hot dogs for a tenner each, outside the football ground..

Hardly a surprise that Harry has rejected the job....why leave a club on the up where you are well respected to join a club who have rose tinted high expectations of themselves sometimes and where a managers get about 2 months to produce great attacking football and wins?

I know Newcastle fans want success and have a great fan base but chopping and changing managers will surely not help.

We don't get all this with fans from Villa/Everton who are bigger and actually won a few things to be fair when they were having bad times.

What experience and qualities is Alan Shearer going to bring apart from being a club legend?

No way are Villa or Everton bigger clubs than the Barcodes.

Depends what you mean by bigger to me Everton and Villa are because they were winning european trophies and leagues when I was a lad and Newcastle wherent even in the top division. They also have a good history in the game as well.

I meant to comment on the Redknapp turn down. This seems all too familiar with them recenlty. Sack manager with no clear idea of who is to be next. 2 or 3 rejections followed by unpopular choice (looks at McClarens diary). Followed by 3 months of trial by result with little confidence from the fans...

You'd expect that sort of ignorance from a Boro fan.

Anyone who thinks that Newcastle are a bigger club than Villa or Everton clearly doesn't know their history. There was football before 1992 you know.

Newcastle need to find a defence before worrying about playing fancy footie.

I am not saying Newcastle aren't a big club but there are others with just as much recent history who seem to be much more patient with their managers/players.

Maybe its just fans of the former 2 clubs just don't ring in as much and just talk on our own fans sites.

IF anything when Villa and Everton fans have been complaing its been about their board (Doug Ellis and that Johnson bloke a whille back )whereas I think the Magpies and Spurs mob really do worry when they are not playing good football and getting results which I guess is fair enough.

I started going aprox 1960. You are damned right that there was football before 1992, and a lore enjoyable trip out it was too. No crowd social control in those days. No ridiculous ammounts of money being trousered by the entrepeneur class.

"You'd expect that sort of ignorance from a Boro fan?" Stereotypification in the extreme. At least we aren't armed.

Sorry, that was a bit strong. I take it back. I fail to see how anyone can call Newcastle a bigger club than Villa or Everton though. Genuinely.

..... and I also take it back. In fact I spent an hour before work yesterday taking it back, but was frozen out.
The way I see it is, none of the so-called big four managers would take the job, but Svennie, O'Neil, or indeed your chap might consider it.
