My prayers have been answered. We are not going to have to endure another FA Cup final involving 2 of the big 4 playing each other!!
What is it about these big teams with all the money & best players, that they can't combine to put on classic finals anymore?
In recent times, when 2 of the so-called big teams play each other, we are lumbered with a yawnfest.
Much better to have one lesser side or even 2 lesser sides playing each other.
The quality cannot be much worse than the tripe that Chelsea & United served up last year or the garbage that Arsenal & United inflicted on the poor fans in 2005!
My money is on Portsmouth; Redknapp deserves some silverware!!!!

Yes, hallelujah to that! I'd pretty much given up on the FA Cup. I only wish my club (Norwich) weren't so arrogantly dismissive of the competition. A nice cup run would have compensated for yet another season of lower mid table championship mediocrity and 'letting the fans down', once again!
Excellent to see cry baby Ferguson spit out his dummy, yet again and the arrogant Chelsea fans turn on their manager. Perhaps the emphasise on the Champions League has contributed to this, if so, then good. The Big 4 can have their Champions League and the rest of the league can have the FA Cup! It does restore faith in the competition that seems to have ended up as a dull specticle to be won by one of the big 4 far too often. Looking forward to the semis.

I think they feel they can't afford to lose. But I'd prefer to see 2 teams who can't afford not to win.
I agree with the above 2 posts. Lets get back to the days when you had half a dozen or so teams challenging for the league and different teams competing the cup final itself. These days we have the same 4 making up the top 4 places and 2 of them in the cup final every year. But now, with a completely different cup final and 3 other teams who lok capable of breaking into the top 4, perhaps things are looking up
Although I am a Man United supporter, I agree with your sentiments.
I was embarrassed at our display at last year's Cup Final.
We already had the league in the bag, so why we couldn't go for it, I'll never know.
In 2005, we played Arsenal off the pitch & tried to win, but we just could not score. Arsenal put their whole team & their team coach & all the players' cars in front of Lehmann,; so they're slightly more culpable for the boring match than we were!
Saying that, they won the cup & that's what matters.
I'm so glad that the prospect of a turgid final between 2 of the so-called big 4 has gone.
I also hope thet Portsmouth win it.
Harry R has done a dcent job with that team & a trophy would be the icing on the cake; although, if there was any justice Barnsley would lift the cup: just look at who they have put out, if that's not deserving of a trophy, then I don't what is!!!!

100% true but thems the breaks, we played Liverpool off the pitch and got caught by a breakaway Owen goal right at the death in a previous year. I felt we deserved to go through in your treble year, at the end of the day the team that wins it is the winner, deserved or not.

Fair points.
Definitely agree about your game with Liverpool; they mugged you big style.
But like you say, no-one will remember that, only who wins it.

and it was bl00dy magic what happens in the 90 minutes doesnt matter, Henchoz's handballs etc, the Owen final will live long in the memory!!!
Thanks, Roni, and I'm confident of a return journey in May. Well, you have to be, don't you? We have the better players (5 of our team/squad have Champions League experience and we're littered with internationals) and we have the bigger game players.
I tell you what makes me smile Andy is when good fans like yourselves can get your hands on the tickets, they are like gold dust, those poor pompey fans queing up yesterday that didnt get any, sure it was the sme for the other 4
I wish you all the very best os Scouse luck in the tie hun

A 2-0 win for us.
Come on the City!! Blooooooobiiiiirds!!!
Yeah, I got to say, I felt sorry for the Pompey ST holders, the club has basically done the dirty on them by washing their hands of ticket sales and giving it to the "leading ticket distributors in the world". I wonder how many Pompey fans are thinking that?
Awwwwwwwwwww way to go Andy, chuffed to bits for you hun, hope you had a fab day out, poor Barnsley though as they did themselves proud to get to the last 4.
